Homeworld Remastered Collection

Star Trek: Chronicles - 2380
Invasion Mode
So I just went a couple rounds on the new invasion mode. As of right now, it works just like the old one used to.... with one slight issue.

As the waves progress, the enemy seems to spawn closer and closer to the starbase. Against the Dominion, I started having them spawn multiple battleships all around the starbase. What makes it worse, is that they all instantly dump a load of torpedoes on the base, bringing it down in a mater of moments.

Is this intentional?! Because if so, It makes it next to impossible to progress past wave 15, despite my having quite a large fleet by then that is more than capable of slaughtering what was attacking me.

The solution to this would be very simple: Have the waves spawn on the opposite side of the map, and charge your position. It makes it more realistic, and at least gives you a chance to fight the enemy...

Regardless, I have yet to encounter any bugs. Even with this issue, it's great to see the massive battles of Invasion mode finally reach Remastered!! :steamhappy:

Thank you!

The spawn points for the enemy ships are arrayed in a circle around the centre of the map, so it's interesting that you're getting them spawning within your base! I'll see what I can do about repositioning them :)

Maybe its just bad luck. I could see the Bugship swarm spawned in a circle around the center, but unfortunately the dominion battleship is... well a tad bigger XD

When it spawns on the closest side of the circle, its close enough to immediately start firing at the starbase.

I have been playing for a few hours in different modes with it like different races and starting normally or going the 2nd spot to the spawning ships and some of the enemy for any race but Dominion and Borg for sure spawn very close to the base and do like the op said and blast the starbase right away. If the spawn was somehow removed from around the base that should solve the problem.

I hadn't tried the other races yet myself...just the Dominion.

Can't imagine how on Earth I would stop a Borg Cube that droped in on top of the starbase! XD

Just played my first round of Invasion. Ho-ly ♥♥♥♥. This is a great way to shake things up from the standard deathmatch. I played as the Federation vs. the Dominion (I wasn't ready to face the Borg yet, lol), made it to wave 14 without too much issue, and then got annihilated by Bugships and fighters. It was like a plague of locusts. I had avoided spawning more ships than I needed, so I was holding out with a rather small force. I had the Nebula and Intrepid that I started the match with, and then I had a bunch of Sabers and Novas to deal with the small ships. I was also keeping a repair ship around, as they were often having to save the life of my Nebula (I was quite proud that the Nebula had fought on for so long).

I finally had to bring in a pair of Galaxies to deal with the two Dominion Dreadnoughts who arrived in wave 13 or so, because my Nebula had been immobilized by a Chell Gett a couple of minutes earlier, and the rest of my force was geared to fight small ships. Unfortunately, one Galaxy died in a collision with the last Dreadnought, and then moments later I was up to my neck in Bugships. The Nebula was helpless; I couldn't save it. The rest of the fleet died quickly, and before long my Galaxy was the only one left, running to catch up as much of the enemy force ignored it and went for the Spacedock. The Galaxy caught up with the Bugships attacking the Spacedock and then died, and while I spawned as many Novas and Sabers as I could, they were no match for the numbers we were facing. The Spacedock was destroyed, and soon afterward wave 15 hit, bringing with it a great big pack of fighters to back up the Bugships. I fought on with ships from the two shipyards, but they never stood a chance, either, and I was completely overrun. It was glorious, though. :D

Textwall. Sorry. I'd normally post this sort of thing on a forum that I frequent, but since I'm probably the only person there who plays STCR, this seemed like the better place. :P

Not only are you not the only one playing STCR, but I've been trying to find a multiplayer match for ages XD

Fighting the Borg or Dominion or both on a mp map with human players against the AI or other humans lol this sounds glorious!

There are larger, cooperative Invasion maps planned. No idea if this will be multiplayer safe though :steamhappy:

Probably won't be :P

@STCR
Found something wierd in invasion mode, some sort of extreme lag that has nothing to do with graphics but could be race. I put myself in slot 2 for sides and team so I could control the spawning invaders somewhat. I picked Cardassians for both slots and put the cpu to expert. The invading force was Romulan with 10000 credits to start. I checked the graphics and restarted my pc. Ill check other races.

EDIT: When Romulans are the invading force no matter what race or map setting you pick there is some kind of extreme lag with the controls and picture like its almost a slide show. After going through all races only the Romulan make the lag happen when they are the invading force. The Dominion are fracking sweet. I want to fly that Dreadnaught so bad.

It's more to do with heavy reliance on the "random" function in the script, this means that just like with the randomly generated maps you're likely to get desynch's. At the very least you could play with an AI partner though

@Rambo 2525
I'll check out the Romulans! Not sure what could be different with them :steamfacepalm:

Found that when you are observing the invaders going after the defending Cardassians, when the cardassian shipyard is destroyed they run to the next shipyard instead of fighting and lose all of their ships. Even if their fleet is 4x the invading fleets size they lose most of thier ships just running and not filring back. I set the AI to expert Cardasian. Do you think there could be a way to make them stand and fight despite losing the shipyard. It also seems that the defending AI ships stay close to the shipyard that they spawned from. This splits their forces up and makes the AI weaker and ships from one side dont tend to go to the other sides help right away so one side gets hit hard. Saw this happen for the Romulans to. Lead to the AI losing far to quickly so just thought id point it out to you guys. I tend to build up the defending AI bit by bit and then hit them with cap ships. I am doing something unintended (XD) with switching spots but...:)

Playing from the invader's side is not supported, any bugs or AI problems you find are entirely your own mate :steammocking:

lol, just checked it and even when I am playing regularly in the 1st spot defending and controling with the Romulans invading it lags no matter what race or map setting I tried. The Romulans play fine when they are defending its just when they are invading that it starts to lag so bad I had to ctl alt del out of it, couldnt get the mouse over the menu button. As soon as you do click the menu button the mouse starts to move fine again. I was able to hit the menu button several times when starting these games. Hope this helps its a wierd bug.

I have found the bug with the Romulans, destroyers were being called cruisers in the wave script and shenanigans ensued.

This fix will upload with the next patch, the Romulans will just have to behave themselves until then :steamhappy:
