Ships behaving weirdly with Borg Cubes
I had to start a new topic for this, because it's too long for a comment:

So, earlier, I decided to fire this up for the first time in a while. I decided to start with an invasion, TNG Feds vs. the Borg. Something I noticed, though, which I don't recall seeing before, was how my ships reacted to Borg Cubes. If anything else came at them, my ships would want to get in and mix it up with them at close range, like always. But when faced with a Cube, most all of my larger ships would stay where they were, basically just sitting there and lobbing torpedoes at it. Oh, they'd move up and down and around each other, but they wouldn't try to get in close to the Cube like they would against other ships. The only way I could get them into phaser range was to order them to move to a point near to the Cube (right-clicking on the Cube itself wouldn't make them move towards it). My Defiants, especially, didn't want to be anywhere near the Cube: they'd almost reverse when ordered to attack the Cube, and hang back at long range, often not firing at all. If I ordered them to fire a torpedo volley at the Cube, they either wouldn't do it at all, or a couple (out of 8 or 10) of them might fire their volleys a couple minutes after I told them to. The Cubes wouldn't close the distance against my ships, either, though: once they were close enough to my fleet to be able to fire on it, they'd stay put.

I'm wondering if you guys coded in a barrier that keeps ships attacking a Cube from getting too close to it, to keep them all from flying into it, but maybe you made it a bit too big? lol

My fleet was sitting in formation when the Cubes apprached them, and where they are in that shot is where they wanted to stay for the duration of the fight. Except for a couple of Nebulas who strangely enough had no issue charging the Cubes, my ships didn't want to get closer to the Cubes, and the Cubes didn't want to get closer to them. The green squares are Defiants, who I probably ordered to fire torpedo volleys at the southern Cube, but who instead left their courage back in the spacedock and are hovering at the very edge of the fight, likely not firing.

You've made a good observation there Arvenski!

The attack style used on the Cubes is the same as that on Outposts, a bombardment style of sorts. I think I know how to shorten the range that the ships sit at and will add it to my list :steamhappy:

Fair enough. Like I said, I'm guessing you did that to keep everything from flying into the Cubes, since the Cubes are so big. I guess I was expecting to see something more like chaos of the Battle of Sector 001, though. :P
