Report a translation problem
We've not done any testing or validation around saving, and I don't know how it works either.
Once we try to do something around a campaign then we'll need to tackle this issue for sure, but there's a lot of custom scripting and code that GearBox no doube aren't catering for in their save format and it'll be a huge pain in the arse to figure it out when we do get to it... :/
After a crash send your HWRM.log file to them so they can take a look at it. The directions are pinned in the discussions thread (up above) under "Instructions for submitting bugs for squishing". After the crash DO NOT start another game/match in HW or a HW mod. The log file overwrites itself at the start of every match so the data is lost. If you do not know where the log file is here is the location if you installed under the C drive.
The log file location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release
The file will be "HwRM" and it is a text file, it doesn't exactily say log file but it is.
