Power / Ability Ideas or Improvements
I've removed the Suggest-A-Race thread, as FU now includes pretty much every major game race. Adding more is a breeze at this point.


This thread has been created instead.


The idea here is to shoot out ideas you've had that might suit a particular race and why.



To present your idea please present the type of ability it is (Regeneration, Environment, Movement, whatever) and a properly typed summation of what it should do and what power it should replace or adjust.

For the gems mod, is there a buff that could do something like being less affected by gravity, in the way that, wether you're on a low or high gravity planet, you're not affected by it, and so can walk around like if the gravity level was normal

Unless the place has near to no gravity, in that case the buff won't apply

Ah. Okay.

I won't use Gravity effects on player-characters, save for situational ones like the Avians get. There is a good reason: They screw up other aspects of play if you leave them on all the time. For instance, the Tech quest for the dash.

If you want gravity, build a gravity generator from FU:)

But there can be other effects. Assuming I ever get around to adding gems in the first place. I wasn't even aware of their existence.

I'm a huge fan of Steven Universe, so it would be really fantastic of you if you add them :3

Now, aside from gravity

Since gems don't need to breath, there's maybe something to work on
Also, maybe making them a little bit more resilient in term of defense point, due to the fact that they're made of solid light

I honestly dont give a crap about the lore or info about the Gems. I typically ignore most lore for FR (most, not all). I make what is fun and what works for SB more important than accuracy. Otherwise races like the Sergal would be OP as hell and pointless as a result.

Reading their lore certainly makes it apparent that they would be OP in starbound using the "rules" of their lore (no breath, built in glow, fusion, weapon summoning, air bubble creation, energy blasts, cannot die via natural causes, adjust mass for gravity, natural durability, regeneration, super strength....and thats not everything. Ridiculous.

So yea, will be ignoring most of the lore if I opt to include them at all.

Then, maybe some extra defense and health
Maybe also a immunity from vanilla cold and vanilla radiations
If there's a need for malus, maybe something about food?

balance is tricky. no way would i give immune to cold ANd radiation...that gives them t5 access from t1, removing the entire ore progression from play for that race right at t1

novakid get that with radiation and its INSANELY useful

What you could do then is listing the sort of things that can be added to a race without making it OP

There are an infinite variety of things peopole could potentially suggest. I cannot possibly make a list that encompasses everything.

most, however, can be governed through common sense or proper planning, or refintement. It depends on the situation.

It's unfortunate you've removed the suggest-a-race thread as I don't believe callistan (my current favorite mod) which is of wolf people with custom guns, etc has been implemented.

Sadly, I... have no idea what could be added as stats for this.
I'm not certain what they're supposed to be particularly good at, although they come with enforcer glasses and a gun, so I imagine they're pretty good with pistols.

Along with that, they come with the orbis pet so perhaps they're decent in the technological department, but I'm uncertain of the limits of your mod and how that could translate to a buff in-game. Perhaps an inherent boost to weapon mods if you can do that? Their custom ship also seems to suggest this.

As far as the food, it's listed as bone / kibble, and with it being a wolf race... I guess that would come with inherent speed ability and perhaps jump? Probably a minor boost like your Kemono which is 10% I believe. Maybe slightly more if you consider wolves more athletic than wild dogs. Maybe 15%? Perhaps more of a strength boost. I have no idea. Whatever you think is best.

I have no idea about balancing, but I hope you consider adding them. I know you already have a canine type race, but they look different from kemono, and its possible to make one that looks like a mouse+dog hybrid which seeing as we have no mouse race - is awesome! It's definitely a unique and really well done race, so I hope you consider it!

Thank you again for this mod and for adding Gardevan! If you're no longer adding races which your removal of the thread would suggest, then I'm so sorry for this.

I didn't mention it earlier because I didn't want to make another request so soon after Gardevan, and I assumed you'd probably add it eventually when/if you wanted, but now I realize you may not have known about them at all.

im still adding races, but a race-suggestion thread isnt useful anymore since I have implemented 90% of the popular races anyhow.Callistan is planned, just not in yet

For the gems:

+2 defense
+10% jump/run speed (as you want)
Faster energy recover
BUT
They need to eat more, cause their organisme doesn't digest food as well as the other races
