LoL changes their characters completely with un-lorefriendly (is that even a word?) costumes, this is still Drow Ranger with a different design.

I think LoL has been destroyed a long time ago. They've just now started to have a direction and art style that they want to pursue but unfrotunately they do not have time to rework the 100 useless Champions it has. Don't care about the Skins really, just want them to completely rework each and every older Champion.
