XCOM 2
Black ICE Codex
Ashlynne_Lee  [developer] 9 Feb, 2017 @ 9:33pm
UPDATE: 2/10/2017
The Black ICE Codex Mod has been updated to be a little more friendly to campaign environments that use increased enemy pod size mods (like LW2)! A few minor tweaks and a new Proving Ground Project/Utility Item have been included just for fun.

Spawn Weights
------------------------------------------------------
-Overall spawn weight slightly reduced

-M1 and M2 Black ICE Codex aliens have been removed as legal followers. They will only ever spawn as pod leaders, just like the Mother Brain. Campaigns that don't use increased enemy pod size mods won't be significantly impacted, but you'll no longer get a Sectopod leading 2 M2 Black Ice Codex aliens!!! Legacy spawn rules still exist in XComGameData_CharacterStats.ini for players that want to revert to the original configuration.

Proving Grounds Project
------------------------------------------------------
-Added 1 new Proving Ground Project; Black ICE Rounds, available after completing the Black ICE Encryption Research Project and the Bluescreen Rounds Proving Grounds Project.

-NOTE: Existing campaigns may have early visibility to this project, but you'll still need to complete Bluescreen Rounds to use it.

Utility Items
------------------------------------------------------
-Added 1 new Utility Item; Black ICE Rounds (created through the Proving Grounds project of the same name)

-Black ICE Rounds affect robotic and tech reliant enemies (Black ICE Codex, Standard Codex, Gatekeeper) with the following:
-A small amount of additional damage on impact
-A chance to stun on impact (Standard Codex aliens won't stay stunned, but will not clone on a successful stunning hit)
-Hack Defense significantly reduced for Robotic enemies
-Infect successfully hit targets with a virus that causes damage every round until quarantined
-Black ICE Codex aliens cannot use Counter-Teleport or Counter-Shot Reaction Abilities while Infected (she can still use Active-Teleport on her own turn and her Reactive defensive shields).

-Removed 'Supplies' cost of Black ICE Skulljack and added 1 Elerium Core

-Config variables for Utility Items are in XComAshBlackIceCodexConfig.ini

Stat Change
------------------------------------------------------
-Added a small amount of Defense to compensate for lower spawn weights and Black ICE Codex vulnerability to Infection.

From my understanding, Black ICE Rounds are a straight upgrade to Bluescreen rounds, right? Or am I missing something?

Love this enemy, thank you for creating her. My soldiers sweat when they see one!

Hey Kexx,

Glad to hear you're enjoying this mod! :steamhappy:

Yes, my design philosophy was that Soldiers carrying Bluescreen Rounds would replace them with Black ICE Rounds when able. Black ICE Rounds hit softer on the initial impact but provide more damage over time if an infected enemy survives for a turn or two or three! Toss in stun chance, a larger hack defense penalty, and the denial of certain Reaction Abilities for infected Black ICE Codex aliens and the Black ICE Rounds should be very appealing.

I hope it's working out that way in actual gameplay! I haven't got a ton of playtime in with the latest Black ICE Updates because I'm working on a dedicated mod for LW2 that combines all 3 of my aliens, but I usually carried 2 Black ICE Rounds into every fight once I had them.

Thanks for the quick response Ashlynne. Yeah, sounds truly awesome!! Been playing with it for a while now, but I think my latest campaign started before this update, so I've never seen these rounds. I'm curious as to how they will perform in my newest campaign.

Thanks for the info, and thanks again for the great enemy unit. I really value and appreciate it when it's not just a new enemy, but it also comes with its own lore, research, and project. Very well rounded. Thanks!

The new update seems awesome, but you've mislabeled your Automated Defenses encounterlists.ini and have two sets of leaders.

Is that for the WotC version? Try reopening the game and/or steam client. I published an update for that about an hour ago.

Thanks!
