The Kazdra's home planet has always been scarce of metals, but now the planet is nearly depleted. These dragon-like beings have recently begun developing a means of space travel using what remains of their precious metals so that they may obtain more metals and possibly, for some, a new world to call home.
The Kazdra seem to use stone, wood, and, most importantly, crystals in many of their common constructs (resonite being one of the most common). Metals are prized and rarely used in ordinary items, but instead are used only as necessary in appliances which require some measure of metal to function or for protective casing. Kazdra tend to hoard metals and metallic objects, and the wealthy tend to wear finery made with precious metals.
I owe this knowledge to the Kazdra, Zalva Skaiseyl. From the astonished look on his face when I first greeted him, I'm sure that I was the first sentient being he'd come across. He seemed to be in a rush though and we only talked briefly.
There have only been a few of them seen so far, a few brave pioneers I assume. Once they perfect their spacecraft, we could very well start to see Kazdran colonies in the near future.

My first entry, of short stories, and the like.
Codex Entry Title: Unknown Location
By: Johnathan A, Protector
I've discovered a planet, covered in cities and mining equipment everywhere. According to my ship's scanners, it seems this place is nearly completely desolate of any materials used for making complicated technology as the type I have aboard my vessel.
The only source of material my ship picks up is very close to the planets dense core, surrounded by oceans of magma.
Many of the cities appear lively and others desolate any empty. I have decided to go down to the surface and make contact between myself and hopefully a representative of this race. Although, I'm not sure how they would regard to visitors.
I wouldn't know if they've ever heard of Humanity before, but I'm willing to make this impression great.
(I can make them longer in time.)
Of all the times for my warp crystal to break... But I do have some good news. The planet below me, according to what little sensory equipment is still functional, contains some basic metals, such as iron, copper, gold and silver. Perhaps enough that I might be able to salvage something from this mess.
Entry 2: As if I didnt need any more discouragement... there are 2 stone structures either side of my entry point... looks like some sort of marker. The compacted skeletal remains underneath say otherwise... if I didn't know better, I would say these are graves... certainly would explain the iron ore I found inside two wooden boxes.
Entry 3: to the west, there is some kind of monolith of stone, in the shape of an archway. A console in the middle is currently inactive, but seems to be connected to this larger gateway. A single label on the console, in a language I have never seen before, alludes to it's purpose. Perhaps I can find some other life on this world, other than that which would kill me.
I have journeyed further west, and found additional iron ore, along with a strange fluffy species, huddled inside of a primitve stone hut. They told me about the gateway to the east, and that it lead to somewhere called the outpost. From what I understood, I can repair my ship there, among other things... I have made camp further west again, amongst the ruins of a pair of stone towers. No eggs from the various birds that nested amongnst the battlements, but I still hold out hope that I will find one tomorrow morning.
Entry 2:
To the east of the warp site, I have found a vast mineing network, with plentiful iron, silver, copper, and gold, all for the taking. And to think, how we horde these metals on our homeworld... doesnt mean I am not taking them from the fleshy person, who set up camp near the entrance. for the greater good and all that. Note to self, lower priority on this world when the survey is eventualy sent through.
Entry 3: I somewhat regret entering that cave. I am still cleaning off that wierd acid one of the creatures of the depths spat at me... but it did nothing to my scales, of which I am glad of. As a secondary, I have found more metal than I know what to do with, to the point where my cargo is probably worth more than my ship, and the information I am due to bring home.
X Co-ordinates: -9187542
Y Co-ordinates: -969630451
Star information: Gentle
Planet information:
PCR I: low tier ore, safe weather patterns, 3000 sectors circumfrence. one moon
PCR II: Same as PCR 1. Planet contains ancient gateway mentioned earlier in my logs, as well as mine. recomend complete salvage team take the mine's contents, large ammounts of steel, and iron remain in the form of furniture. One moon.
PCR III: Gas giant, one moon.
PCR IV: Gas giant, one habitable moon.
PCR IVa: Forest, scans show tungsten in addition to the standard fare from PCR I and II. Similar weather in addition, to PCR I and II.
PCR V: large desert planet (6000 sectors), scans show tungsten present. Occasional sandstorms. 2 moons.
PCR VI: Mid sized desert planet (4000 sectors) same conditions as PCR V.
PCR VII: A barren world, no ores or life detected. Recomend setting up storehouse for minerals here.
Overal recomendation: Imediate colonisation, if not limited mining operations, in this star system, along with most others. This is also a recomendation that the Kazadra begin looking outwards, if we are to secure our future. We need only look to the human's homeworld for proof of what happens if we don't.
On a more personal note: we need to improve reliability of our vessels, and their currently fragile warp cores. It was by pure luck I was able to find some willing humans at the outpost to repair my vessel... and a means of getting there. Suggestion 2: all Kazadra vessels have a teleporter waypoint to the outpost.
