Left 4 Dead 2

Yama part 1
Yama - Review by Endless
★★★★★ 5/5: One of the greatests campaigns in history

There are endless mods and maps created for Left 4 Dead by the community. Some are of excellent quality and iconic design, while others tend to be a bit more forgettable. Among all that ocean of content, there is one that stands as an essential pillar. A beacon of quality, genius and fun. Yama is a campaign that, in my view, is a masterpiece from beginning to end.

A theme not often explored is that of East Asian countries, in this case, Japan. As the name indicates, and the screenshots, the maps are set in the urban and rural areas of Japan. Starting in the chaos of Tokyo and moving to the outskirts, in calm villages and tourist centers. Each map offers a different location, well designed and with a simply great style. The details fly through the air and the geometry of the maps is so incredible that it makes you want to get into the virtual reality you are experiencing. Thanks to the use of semi-realistic, photorealistic textures, Yama comes to life as a great example of pure visual glory.

It's not only eye-candy, but also a great synergy between the combat against the infected and the level design. Each map is made to have its own style, shaped to be as entertaining as it is challenging at times. Difficulty can be adjusted, of course, but overall, Yama offers a great balance between something difficult to complete and yet enjoyable, providing enough opportunities for epic moments.

Yama is, from start to finish, a fantastic and epic piece of work that brings to life both an urban and rural environment, creating a collection of maps that are incredible. The entire campaign is an unforgettable experience. I wish there were more like Yama, but the truth is, it is a huge challenge to even come close to what this campaign has achieved.
