The difference between Hammer, and this tool. (A vein attempt to define.)
Okay so as stated by the developer of this tool, this tool is NOT to be compared to hammer as it simply cannot compare. This is true, albeit this tool looks interesting, I don't play Garry's mod sandbox anymore so I cannot say I will be trying this tool out. The main difference between this and Hammer is basically everything. This produces pre-made parts and can make arena's, bases, etc. This is made obvious just by the pictures provided, now HAMMER has much more to it than just copy paste and stick on a grid, although it does have that quite a bit too.

Hammer editor includes a powerful material editor/displacement tool, a cutting tool, magnifying, it's own three-grid system with a 3d view, a brush tool that comes with primative shapes (Defined as circles, wedges, etc, more of course are there than just those.) and comes with an entity tool. This tool compared to hammer has : One grid (I believe), and simple pre-made things. As I said, I don't know everything about the tool nor do I care to really try it out, but I just wanted to define some things. Excuse any misspellings and issues with grammar, I'm quite tired.

But in general, you can do much more advanced things with Hammer, and it's so simple to use, I'd never want to use anything else honestly.

I think people might be overestimating this mod, hence the dissapointment. This is not a powerful map making tool, nor comes close to what you can do with hammer. It doesn't attempt to either. It was just meant to quickly make a base or an arena in sandbox if you feel like it. If you want to make actual pro maps, this is not the tool for you. If you want to put together a quick map for you and your friends to have a shootout, or an RTS battle, then this tool will come in handy.

I'd compare this tool to Track Assembly.
I say it's a nice tool for making huge forts + compounds. Possibly dungeons, too.

^^ Pretty much, didn't think I'd need to go into that detail. Already proved my point
