Survivors fight like epileptics bug.
Ravayen :
anyone else getting a wierd issue where suvivors that are following you will tend to have an epileptic fit on the spot instead of moving to melee range with a zed, alot of the time they stand there with the schizophrenic approach of 'aaatttaaaack!!!.....then again....attttaaack!!....nope'
They do fight back if the zed comes into range of it's own accord though and they are set to attack hostiles (guns work fine too).
It happens when they are on "guard" command. It wasn't like that at begining..Any idea whye it happens and how to fix this?

Well I do understand what thaty guy explained, probalby because I saw it happening in game. When your team is on "guard'" command each survivor with melee weapon spot zombie, then attempt to attack BUT retrat too early. Sometimes they swing weapon once and don't finish off zombie just turn back and then do this again and again. Sometimes they just swirl around and do almost no attacks. This is the epeileptic effect we talk about.

When it worked properly they: spot zombie( based on react distance in script ,lets say 10), finish zombie off and then comeback to guarded zone. No weird dance.

This is ofc bug and it's not effective in any circumstances. But I imagine more advenced AI allowing to recognize single or small group of zombies and LARGE groups. Vs small groups survivors should finish off zombies and vs bigger ones use "hit and run"

Edit: This issue together with inaccessible survivors inventory brakes experience for me. They are just temporary meat shields. Even worse because I can't force them to wear armor or raincoat. From what people say it was possible to equip survivors with armors but due to changes in game code this does not work anymore right? Almost forgot about survivors vanishing, Force reload them cause permanent frame rate drop. I take them with me-they are going to die due to rain or zombie. I tell them to stay in base- they will vanish. :(

I had an issue where a survivor was close to me, but was standing on top of a tree. He wasn't able to move or attack and got bitten. He was able to attack again once he was no longer on the tree.
