As it is now that is not possible.The gradient is applied to the channels seperately and the horizontal layouts show both left & right channels next to each other.

The only option I can think of is to use the positioning system "screen center" which allows you to move parts off screen, and then configuring it to hide one half off of the screen. It's a finicky thing to setup, but if you try, remember you can use the arrow keys for precision.
