Need help ?
Hi,

First things first : thank you for your amazing "wallpaper" !
Then, do you need any help to develop the wallpaper ? Is there a github or something like that to contribute/help you ? :)

First off thanks for the offer. But my current path is mostly to round up most of my wallpapers, which is already taking me longer than i intended, and finish up what I still wanted to do and then let them rest and only fix bugs if they get reported. My intentions are to move on to new ideas, possibly wallpapers, possibly other things.

If you have an idea or something you wanted to try to add, just ask or discuss and we can figure something out. But I don't have real requests for help as I am trying to stop adding new things.

I also want to add that new wallpapers full of settings are more than welcome too. I wish WE had more audio wallpapers with more variations. I am also fine if my code gets repurposed for new wallpapers, as long as its really something new and not just another copy of the same wallpaper with a different background. If there are questions about my code I can always answer those.

As for help in general, in the future somewhere I will be looking for help with translations. VU meter will be the first wallpaper I try to translate. I am working on a site to make it managable for me to keep updating translation as well as make it easy for others to contribute without having to understand how to use git.

Ok np :)

I already took a look at your code, but I do not want to modify your code without your authorization etc. and I'm mainly interested in adding features than just using a portion of your code. Plus, I think that it is a loss of time if I create a parallel version of your work, if one of us fix a bug the other have too etc and git simplify a lot that :) And I will feel like I'm stealing your work.

I had a few ideas :
- handling video in the slideshow with various parameters like wait the end of the video before transition or not (and let's go crazy import other wallpapers in <iframe> inside your : I don't know if this is possible but it would be great !)
- add the possibility of custom settings for each picture, so you can get http://i.imgur.com/3ZoLkuL.png then https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/167031150593734255/8E7C1D579E4BE3AAF30C0A7785B51D909AAECF98/
- Internationalization, it's a chromium running in the background running the code, so i18n should works. On another project I just posted a message saying to grab the .json and translate it, then PR or send it by mail, so people knowing git PR it and other just copy/paste into email or forum.

I understand that those functionalities will not be done in 1 week so I was offering my help to implement stuffs, maybe you have ideas that I didn't think off and would be amazing too.

I more meant it as in that you can do other settings and different ideas while reusing parts like the background code that is reusable. Or the VU meter, but altering some of the calculations to give it different shapes, or well . something new ..

Limited by WE's settings. WE doesnt have a setting to select a folder of videos or a folder of videos/images mixed.. My background code should already be prepared for it except that I would still have to trigger an event on the end of the video, but thats about all thats still needed.

An iframe or different layer can be added with easy and independently of the VU meters code. VU meter itself is transparent so you can layer anything infront or behind. But other wallpapers ; I think you would have to copy the whole wallpaper into the VU meters project as you can't ( or shouldnt be able to ) just open files outside of the project folder.

This is far beyond what WE settings will let me do. This means you would have to write your own settings panel seperate from the WE's settings panel. Certainly not a bad idea but ya will have to write that one from scratch.

If you only want to do that with a wallpaper that has one image ( no slideshow ), then you can use the import/export settings options in WE for that.

Unsure what you mean with "i18n should work"? What should work? Translations of settings are handled by WE and the project.json. To my knowledge its just a string list and totally not linked with chromium, even if its run in chromium.

Also I would also go nuts if people sent me constant updates via different ways. I am not going to go that route ever again. But I have a solution for that so no problem there.

Okay, I had translate some strings I sure on.
Because, some english words cannot be translated machine-like, because it will loose it's sense in Russian.
This page is bit unhandy, cuz I cannot be sure which way to translate some words like "HIGH" where it can be as "Powerful" or "Top"...
Or "LOW". It can be understood as "Weak" or "Bottom" etc

I understand. You miss context. I checked and a lot has been translated already. Thats great!

The blend mode ones are the most difficult as those are standard terms for calculations dones on graphics. I found those hard to translate into dutch too. Maybe this can help with those; I found this page in russian which discusses blend modes ( they call it layer modes ) .. https://docs.gimp.org/ru/gimp-concepts-layer-modes.html ( english version: https://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-concepts-layer-modes.html )

Feel free to ask any specific terms you are unsure about and I will try to explain. Sometimes I just picked a term that sounded ok so I can understand it being unclear. I might be slow in responding as I have to work overtime for another night tonight.

Yay, found out that my first attempt to translate it is on work. Now making improvements...
Lourie Parker 16 Apr, 2018 @ 5:32am
Somewhy, I cannot make changes on that site anymore. It only offers me to translate it from English to Dutch no matter if I change languages on Profile or on a translation page. I made some corrections in the language. Plz, take a minuite and make a changes instead of me.
Case sensitive (Find and replace):

Непрозрачность границы = Прозрачность границы
Горизонтальный фоновый градиент = Форма градиента
круги = круг
овалы = овал
Источник фона = Вид фона
Заполнить экран = Наложение
Fit Screen = Растянуть
час = Часы
Слайд-шоу = Слайдшоу
Type = Форма фигур
Reverse Frequencies = Обратить график
Степень сглаживания = Сглаживание графика
Режим смешивания = Цветовой фильтр
Размытие = Размытие графика
darken = затемнение
lighten = выцветание
color-dodge = разница цвета
color-burn = выжигание
hard-light = контрастный
soft-light = смягчение
exclusion = исключение
Светимость = яркость
Ничего = Остаться
Animate = Анимация

Now it would looks more native.

Sorry, my mistake. I had updated the site yesterday and left something in after I was done testing the changes. If you login again ( you might have to logout first ) it should be fixed.

I replaced the one you mentioned and added the others under your name.
