Tiered table or tech tree?
Hi everyone!

I was thinking about how players would like to get new instruments in-game.

- Tiered table (so you can throw there a silicon board, some copper wire and a battery to upgrade it and get synths, for example)

- Tech tree (You can research techs and instruments your own way. Quick and dirty mockup: http://i.imgur.com/qGkkEDs.png )

- None, just a plain single crafting table with every instrument available from the very beginning

I would go for the tiered table. The tech trees are novel and more in tune with different disciplines, but I feel the mechanics of them are slightly irritating/limiting in Starbound. A tech tree might be nicer only if paired with quests/NPCs such as in the outpost. Regarding the standard crafting table, if people want everything from the beginning, they'll just /admin anyway. I think it would feel more respectable to have your mods in line with established vanilla-y Starbound lore. :keyboardcat:

You are absolutely right. I also think that the tiered table is the most seamless solution possible.
