How to change race

I posted a comment but this seems a better place for it. When I make a character I am only able to choose a default human with normal ark customization. The character is nude but none of the extra advertised features are available. Am I doing something wrong?

Same i see whiskey or borbon bottle and can't find it i am guessing there is a workbench or item to create stuff but can't find anything.
