Power Logic
Re-Bot 27 Nov, 2018 @ 10:26am
Small but mod breaking glitch....
I've found that at the moment any logic system placed down will always face south nomatter what direction your wanted it facing. Sadly its preventing me from providing power to my base the way i want to.

do you mean that the logic gate visually wont rotate?

im not compeatly sure all i know is it always faces east and compleatly refuses to out put power at all nomatter what. same seems to aply to the other logic parts it seems.

I realy hope im just not using it right but ive tryed alot of things to no avail.

post a screen shot of your logic gates please. I'll let you know if something is incorrectly setup or not.

errmmmm thats gonna be hard..... I was playing a no backsave mode world and not long after i gave up and posted i got squashed by a raid.

ouch, unlucky.

do you remember how it was layed out?

my gut feeling is that you might had been lacking input sockets on the sides of the gate.
Re-Bot 27 Nov, 2018 @ 3:03pm
i had two inputs laid down first and then the logic gate inbetween. the gate then faced the wrong way a ton of times so i move the inputs and hooked them up to power the way i wanted but then i found that the gates output refused to conect to the power grid in any way.

It was a setup with a battery attached that was ment to cut off the solar and wind power if the batteries were maxed out.

where about was the gate placed around the power generators and batteries (which was placed on the inputs)

what was connected to the output side (power generation and batteries should remain on the input side)

entanglement switch to cut the power would have been the route I would have gone for (can be used on logic gates as the linked switch).
Re-Bot 27 Nov, 2018 @ 3:38pm
one input conected to the power generation and the other conected to one of the mods switches which was set (at i lest i think i had it right) to activate when the bateries were draining. Mind you even if i had that part set up wrong i did test with a normal switch and even when i was forcing a allow power though signal it still would not let it though. Also the logic gates were compleatly refusing to conect to wires of any kind on their out put. (visualy)

I guess there may have been some sort of weird glitch between one of the other few mods though i have no idea.

the output visually appearing not to connect to do with how rimworld links together the conduits, switches when they are off visually appear as unlinked, both the logic gate and input sockets are a type of switch so thats why the output conduit can appear unlinked. so don't worry about the visuals of that part.

power is only allowed down one input through the gate (designed as such to avoid one input putting power through the other input), so I don't usually recommend using them to combine the power of both inputs.

Use Logic gates to switch on an end device gives the best results, e.g. wifi device or link the last gate to an entangled switch that can be placed somewhere required (note entangled switches are inverse the on/off state of the other switch).

I cant really say for sure as I don't have the best picture of your layout in my head, but if you happen to make the same layout again, be sure to show me a picture.

you can also use dev mode to recreate your layout rather than waiting til next time.
