when crafting in a smithicator use the 'pull resources' function to bring the thatch in from OCD and start crafting - with OCD storing raw materials in the smithicator isn't necessary as long as you use the pull functions - if you don't want the system pulling from the smithicator AT ALL - then you can go to the control console and select EXCLUDE STRUCTURES then select the smithicator in the check boxes (same with any other structure on the build list)

Either exclude smithy from console or rename it to something with "*" or "~" in it for manual exclusion.
