Why?
I mean this is cool and all, but why is this mod a thing?

Because why not?

Exactly.

I guess, but... (sigh)

I am having trouble seeing what your argument is. Please enunciate it more clearly.

What is the point of adding Don't Starve creatures into the game of RimWorld. I mean, I love both game, but the mix seems off.

Why Not ?
This mod is a thing because someone felt like it. I love the beefalo, and other stuff.

I find this mod awesome and the textures are really good quality. Also you don't have to download the mod right?

What is the purpose though? That is what I am getting at. What was the developers intent or purpose in creating this?

Too add more animals to the game?

Why do that under the branch of Don't Starve though? I mean, as stated previously, I love both games, but they don't seem to fit.

Not sure

I agree that the art styles are significantly different. I've modified the textures a little to make them fit somewhat better (eg. removed legs, since in Rimworld that's not something that people have apparently).

That said, some of the Rimworld assets have always seemed somewhat lazy to me, especially compared to the painstakingly hand-drawn and beautifully-animated characters in Don't Starve. Given the sheer scale of Rimworld (and how tiny the development team is) it's hard to blame them for cutting corners, and I for one am glad it's in the graphics department, not gameplay or features. I think I'd rather add textures that look above average instead of worse than the default ones (and there's mods out there in both categories).

If I were good enough to make art from scratch, maybe I would (I actually did it for my other mod - not sure if the result is all that great given how much time I sank into it). If you can draw Rimworld-quality sprites and want to make a mod, send me the assets - I'll handle everything from defs to custom classes. For now I decided that using modified DS assets is a cost-effective (or rather, time-effective) way to provide some much-needed variety and content to the game. In the end, whether you like it is a matter of personal taste.

tl;dr someone suggested it, I thought it was a fun idea so I made it

Discussing a mod you're not interested in is equally pointless, and yet you spend time doing it...

If "Why? Why not." is not enough of an argument for you...in a mod section...which is a playground for anything and everything, well...

...my three survivors just crashlanded on the exact planet that the Don´t starve narrative is situated on and I had no animals in there because this mod did not exist. Thank you, mod. Now I don´t have to starve *coughcough* on this peculiar planet. Whaddya know, universe is a huge place, man.
