Dear PBD users,

Today, with a heavy heart, I must announce something that has been on my mind for a long time. I am retiring from modding. That said, please read on for clarification.

I will not be supporting the main chunk of Crimson Court with a patch for PBD. I will, however, be supporting the Flagellant and District add-ons. In addition I will continue to support PBD with bugfixes and main game patches, but there will not be any more content updates or DLC support beyond the two mentioned above. I will also continue the support of my miscellaneous mods.

In other words this means that you will still be able to play PBD until DD eventually stops updating, but there will be no more official content updates from me. I want the transition to be as seamless as possible and users to experience no interruptions with their modded experience. For those currently playing you simply will not find an official PBD patch for the main chunk of Crimson Court, but you will never have to worry about PBD being forgotten. I will still be updating PBD for main game patches, but I simply do not have the time necessary to support CC.

My departure is necessary mainly due to a change in focus. While PBD has been a tremendous part of my life for the past two years, it is not sustaining. I’ve poured many thousands of hours into its development, but I now need that time to focus on finding full-time employment in the industry and expanding my portfolio even further.

I also do not wish for my retirement to have a negative impact on the modding scene whatsoever. I will be officially making all of my private design documents and spreadsheets available to the public for completely free and unrestricted use. In addition, all of my personal development files are being made available. My personal dev files and documents will be available shortly after the release of CC and PBD 6.1, the patch for the main game, Districts, and the Flagellant. A follow-up post will contain the links to that soon!

While you are not required to provide any credit to me or the artists who have worked with me, please consider doing so. Thousands of man hours have gone into the creation of this mod over the past two years, and I at least ask that credit be given to the people who have worked on this mod if you use any assets, code, or ideas in your own modding work.

I want to sincerely thank each and every supporter I’ve had over the years. I apologize that I am unable to give you the full package with DLC support, but I would encourage you to reach out to other modders or take it upon yourself to support CC with an unofficial patch to PBD. You are responsible for PBD’s success since day one. I am merely the worker behind your feedback and criticism, and I am immensely proud of the help I’ve gotten making sure Pitch Black Dungeon is one of the best modded experiences you can have.

A huge thanks is also in order with Red Hook. You have all been tremendously helpful over the course of the last two years, providing me with support and work. You’ve truly created a fantastic game that has garnered well-deserved attention and fans, and I wish you all the best of luck as you continue to support DD before moving on to your next game!

If you like the work I’ve done on Pitch Black Dungeon and my other mods I encourage you to follow my advancements in the industry. I definitely plan on designing more games in the future and would love for my fans to see what I work on next!
