Epic Encounters
How long do statuses actually last?
Me and my friend are running into a reoccurring problem, where an enemy that's supposed to stay frozen/knocked down/etc. loses that status a turn or two before the status should disappear. It feels as if they lose the status at random - during another character's turn for instance.
Here's a good example: we manage to charm an enemy for 1 turn and before we actually get to control him, the charm runs out and he becomes enraged. There was no interaction from other enemies, the status seemingly disappeared at random.
It's a frustrating experience in an otherwise fantastic mod, any tips on how to deal with this?

I have the exact same question! Also it often seems to me that there is no real order in the turn queue. It says that my character will be the next one to act but an enemy *skips* infront.

@SloLynx: A valid question. Statuses last at maximum for as long as stated in their descriptions. However--and this is the base game's mechanics, which we chose to mimic for consistency--statuses provide a saving throw on the affected creature's turn, as well as the effect-originator's turn. These saving throws occur at the beginning of both turns, so sadly the scenario you describe is not a bug, but intended, though rather opaque. An option to alter this system existed, but the time-investment and strain on the scripting system were heavy to the point that we were forced to abandon it. The best way to avoid having problems with this system is to make heavy use of effects that drain Grit and Willpower, since these stats radically increase the chance to save.

@cezana: This is an unfortunate bug of base game. You are correct: the initiative bar display "breaks" (does not display turns in the correct order) without warning and will often not display who is next in the turn order. Sadly, we cannot alter this. :(
Thank you for your explaining this system to me! In the base game I didn't realise it (probably because enemies had less Grit/Willpower).
Otherwise we are having great fun with your mod, It feels realy good to know people can show so much devotion to making a game a great experience for players!
@Elric: Wow, thank you so much for taking your time and answering in such an indepth manner! Knowing the saving throw mechanic takes place twice clears things up and we'll definitely adjust accordingly.
Epic encounters is an absolute blast, it certainly adds additional longevity to an already fanatastic game :D
