Does this mod have province dynamic localization for Greek? I would suggest looking at Byzantine Resurgence (Beyond Typus addon) if that is not the case.

I've also a suggestion on the name:

Since 'Byzantium' is a name created by westerners centuries AFTER the fall of Constantinople, and since the original 'Rhomaion' would be incompatible with the game style of anglicization of the names, the most sensible option would be in my opinion something like 'Rhomania' (adj. 'Rhoman') for the name of the empire, which is the most likely anglicization of the real name.

That is just a suggestion since I already have a personal mod with that modification that I use for my games, but if you are interested and wanted to spare the 5 minutes needed to replace the relevant lines, I can just share the code with you.

I'd prefer you to go with the bizantine empire, really. Feels it adds more flavor. There could be an event, tough, deepder down the line, that after having recovered a large part of the empire lands, the other countries start to see you as a renascent roman empire.

Another thing I think could be a nice addition was a storyline to the rivals bizantium eventually picks up. It seems that the way I play the game ends up being very linear, so some rivals are always there, basically the spanish and the mamluks. A story about beating them, important generals during the time(Having fictional events about these, that could give the option for you to choose between important figures to add to the empire) would be pretty nice, but I also understand that it would be a huge undertaking. Thank you for doing this!

Although I am firmly in the "allow us to use the "Reform Rome decision (mainly for the sweet looking flag)" faction, I will say that I would prefer that you never change Byzantium's tag. The main reason is that this mod is still pretty compatible with the EU4 to Victoria 2 converter, but if you changed Byzantium to a new tag (IE one that isn't BYZ), I (as well as any others who wish to do a megacampaign with your mod enabled) have to edit the converter in order for everything to come out properly.

i love this mod so Far but i would love to see an Event where the Komenos Dynasty Inherits the Throne through an Event. either through Trebazond being eliminated or the last palagious died. Multiple Choices Civil war or New Dynasty or Personal union over Trebazond.

Perhaps an idea for a future disaster for the Byzantines to go through. The Byzantines would have to adapt to surviv. So perhaps when conquering Turkish lands they create a system similar to the janissaries, enslaving muslim children, raising them to speak greek and worship in the orthodox fashion. But like what happened to the Janissaries they might grow to powerful, and be a threat to the empire

I think you've already made your decision, but I want to add my voice to changing the name of the nation to Roman Empire. As much as Western Europe has attempted to erase their Roman identity from history, calling them by their name today is the least we can do!

@Phoenix, I haven't made decision yet. I am planning an overhaul of the mod yet again thanks to the abundant of changes, and I am thinking seriously a hybrid solution to the problem. Of course, I welcome all suggestions.

Y'know, the new expansion adds name changing w/o tag changing e.g. Kingdom of God or Caliphate, sooo there could still be a decision to actually "Claim your rightful heritage!" or "Remind the barbarians of our past!" and instead of changing the tag to the Roman Empire it just changes your name. I'd say that that would kill 2 birds with one stone, everyone would get to "reform" the empire and the only effective change would still be cosmetic, unless as someone said previously in the comments it adds like +1 legitimacy and +0.5 prestige. Unfortunately I don't know how easy that would be to mod.

@eva3071 My personal preference would just a straight name change to "Roman Empire" without changing the tag. In an ideal world, playing as the Byzantines and anyone not in Western Europe, you see it as "Roman Empire", but when playing as Western Europe you see "Greek Empire", but I don't know if EU4 can handle naming like that. Perhaps an event or decision forcing the rest of Europe to acknowledge you when you've recreated Justinian's borders or something!

@Phoenix, Living_Legend pointed out that the new expansion allows name changing without tag changing, which tag changing is what I am wary of due to the sheer amount of work. That is a fine solution. Perhaps after you have completed the mission "Renovatio Imperii", the name will change to "Rome", keeping with the naming conventions in the game.

I really would like to see an elite troop for the Byzantine/Roman Empire... maybe through accepted cultures like the banner infantry

So would I, especially since the mercenary rework is going to screw the Varangian mercenaries in the mod up.

In the spirit of the HRE having both centralised and decentralised paths, something that could be really awesome would be decisions or missions to decentralise the empire if you so wish. Perhaps a special type of vassal with low liberty desire governing a region away from the core empire, like the Exarchates of Ravenna and Africa.

Anyways, in regards to suggestions, I have an idea or two (might be crap but I'll throw it out there anyways, love the nod and appreciate all the hard work that goes into this thing :) 1) maybe some interesting events related to Pompeii if the Byzantine player owns Naples by the 1730s, since archaeology was born out of that region and time. Could have some interesting flavor events relating to relocating Roman art and treasures to Constantinople, and the birth of modern classical scholarship (maybe a 20 prestige event?). 2) Maybe some interesting events related to the enlightnment/revolution in Byzantium. The text relating byzantium's view of the league war was funny and interesting. Maybe some text regarding rebuilding the senate of Constantinople (parliment) to appease revolutionary agitators (or go full absolutist a la Russia). 3) Maybe some culture changes, where if the player takes control of say Egypt, after the religion is converted, the culture shifts to one in the Greek culture group (Aegyptian?), same thing for Syrians? While seeing culture flipping and creating a giant Greek culture blob across the Med. is funny, it feels.... off from what is reasonable..... 4) maybe reconsider having catholic countries flipping to Orthodox after the pentarchy fires, maybe an anti-pope moves to Spain (flipping Iberia and France to orthodox really seems to mess up events relating to Spain in colonisation and France in the religious wars, but its a minor problem.... I know its a wall of text, and sorry, but there are my ideas..... oh- in regards to the Rome/Hellenic Empire/Byzantium thing- there is a mod that changes Byzantium to Basaleia Romanion (sorry for all my terrible spelling)
