Dragontail
overpowered lightning dragons
is it possible that the lightning dragon's breathweapon be nerfed? it's ridiculous! i'm playing on a friend's server and a low level one was around as I flew by and it was a no-miss knockoff from my bird.... managed to somehow get away that time but later I was wandering in the redwood biome and one appeared out of nowhere and promptly spam breathed me to death...

couldn't run away, even with 54 fortitude, it would just breathe and force me to get stunned, then i'd pass out and it would go back to regular attacks.... soon as I got up it would breathe on me again before I could even move or anything else, so would be blocked from moving and then pass out from torpor after it wore off...

so is it possible to nerf the lightning dragons to have a much shorter stun period or a larger cooldown so the breath can't be spammed over and over?

they can not "spam breath". they have a 5-10 second cooldown already and the paralysis only lasts 3 seconds. I can only suggest that you be more wary of where you tread.

didn't seem like it to me, had 54 fortitude and it was -exactly- dragon breathes, I get stunned and can't move, it wears off, I get knocked out, dragon attacks me while out, I get up, it uses breath on me, I get stunned, wears off, torpor knocks me out, dragon attacks....

this went on 5 or 6 times in a row

I don't think fortitude affects anything other than insulation towards hot and cold though?

it affects torpor rates and how fast it goes down, you'll get a small reduction from incoming torpor too with more fortitude but still point was being that there wasn't any way to do anything... can the lightning script be changed to not do that? it's already kind of bad enough to be aim-botted off mounts by the wild lightning dragons, pretty much is an instant death there as it is...

well, they're supposed to be stronger than your average dino, you can hear their thunder from miles away and act accordingly. they're not the kind of creature you can just walk up to and say hi to without dying a bunch.
however, I may do something about their breath's torpor, maybe.

here is a question, where you wearing any armour? Riot gear and tek helps basically negate topar gain

me and a buddy have over 200+ fortitude (highly boosted server) and we can still knock each other out with shocking tranq darts and photon rifles. lasts 10 seconds, but still can be knocked out

Topor is not affected by fortitude. And yes, the Lightning does do a bit too much topor damage, I got hit 1 time by it, wearing armor, and it friggin knocked me out to full topor, and i had already knocked IT out, but the breath kept going and locked onto me. Then the dragon proceeded to spaz out into the floor while KO'd
Just adding my experience to the topic at hand: But I definitely agree that the Lightning Dragon's breath attack is extremely powerful. Not only does it do a frightful amount of damage (one shotting me in full Flak Armor, AND killing my Rex), but the one time I managed to only get one or two ticked by the breath by an attempt to dodge, I was insta-torpored to full and was promptly killed after. @-@ This Dragon was only level 2. Scary stuff, man. Really scary.

the Lightning does massive amounts of damage > Damage gets turned into a small amount of torpor > torpor for days.

yeah, I may or may not have calculated the ammount of torpor they'd do correctly. haha

They also fly extremly quick like one which was lvl 3 was flying circles around us and never seemed to stop. We could not even hit them, because when it was lightning us, while moving really fast, could not keep up with it, I even had a water dragon 5000+ hp and was down to about 1000 in 2 lightning strikes. I get they are supposed to be stronger than most other dinos, but since the are very small (which means small hitbox) and extremly fast. They arent difficult they are op. Saying be creful were you tread is not really helpful, because they can and have come litterly out of nowhere. Something dies they spawn. I even had one fly right up to my base, never attacked it, or even saw it anywhere near the beach or anything it just flew right up and destroyed everything.

edit: I forgot to include what we were wearing and where it happened, north beach, flak armor , longneck rife, crossbow and revolver.

I don't think the tapor is the problem, the breath attack, coulped by how hard it is to even hit them is the problem.

I can also agree those suckers even at low level are murder. There also fast so even trying to tame them can be a nightmare. No matter what gear you have. ONE shot from them is all they need and you'r stunned, knocked out, and then dead.

Trying to tame a lv 5 from as far away as I could still ended with me being dead as it booked it over to me after I landed two shots and I couldn't rush back to my petra in time.

Hell, We also use tameable alphas mod with it and I seen low lv lightnings win against omega dinos.. a.k.s scary as shizzl dinos that are stronger than alphas. Yet the lightning is to be the first thing we go after past whelps? Man I'm less scared of the fire and earth than I am of the lightning x.x I'll gladly pick a fight with those two (and I have) but I avoid the lightning with a 100 foot range. We even spoke of just removing the lightnings from our game.

This may or may not help but, solo taming a dragon should be pretty darn tough if you ask me... A safer bet would be, bring a friend and some sleeping bags with you, as well as a dino on passive for a dmg soak to be extra safe. I'm not commenting on torpor rates (dont have enough insight to offer on it) I do know that a max tamed lightning dragon is a VERY strong dragon but I havent been able to compare it to max fire/earth yet

edit: no need to rage at my post... Thats not what I was going for.
