XCOM 2
Long War 2

Is this really unplayable without a controller
I can't play mouse and keyboard due to health reasons. Can I use the controller as is or is it too broken to bother with. It seems pretty backwards to take a game with good controller support and access for disabled players and then ♥♥♥♥ it up.

I'm sorry Raven, adding controller support for Long War 2 would have been a large undertaking, and we weren't funded to do it.

It's fine I've uninstalled the mod. The frustrating thing is all it would need to work is to allow the option to switch from controller to mouse via the config menu to make it playable. Perhaps I'll get a steam controller some day and be able to play it then :)

Technically, you could launch vanilla XCOM2 and select 'controller' there, then start LW2 and you'll play with your controller (probably a bug). However, there are plenty of things you can't do with the controller since the mod hasn't been designed with that on mind.

Yea first time I played long war 2 was with my controller, I was able to get through the first mission just fine with it. I only hit a road block on the world screen as I could not advance time. So I quit out and changed to mouse but it's kinda of a pain. I wish they hadn't greyed out the option in game.

Have you thought about using a program such as XPadder to map some controls to your joypad? It supports using a button as a 'shift' function, to access up to eight different functions from one controller button, as well as mapping mouse controls to a thumbstick.

You could, for example, have it set up so that pulling both triggers advances time, while they remain as independent functions when used separately.

Yea that could be a good option, I have pinnacle game profiler. It will vastly change the combat controls though as I'd be mapping mouse+kb controls to the controller. Worth looking into at least :)

I can't imagine playing XCom without a controller but I tried to attempt playing this over-hyped mod. Does not seem worth the frustration. I'd rather shell $40 to Firaxis for theirs to get some new content than bother another minute with this half-assed nonsense.

Hi, just wanted to add another request for controller support. My partner and I play together with controllers and you just can't do that with M&KB. I doubt we're the only ones doing that too, so this could be a very popular addition and an easy win for Pavonis.

super disappointing that there is no gamepad support with the mod.

I am a long time x-com veteran, loved the first 2 games in the 90s however I enjoy playing nucom with gamepad more than with a mouse.

really sucks you guys can't add gamepad support.
