Managing 20+ soldiers is tedious
Having to sit and promote 20+ soldiers is extremely tedious! Is there any way around this? In the base game I just really focused on about 8 of them which was manageable.

I have no connection to any of them in LW2, while in the base game I felt as though I had "my" team.

Are there any mods etc. that can help with this?

Go play Xenonauts, where you have to manage multiple bases, weaps and even ammo; like the first X-Com.

If you don't like managing 30+ soldiers this mod isn't for you.

I personally didn't like the small roster in the vanilla game. There wasn't any variety in soldier builds or different squad compositions for different tactics.

Edit: Oops, one month old thread from page 3 xD. Guess this forum is pretty dead -_-

nope, alive and well, we were just laughing so hard at "20 soldiers" when it takes three times that many.

Hrm.... learn to love squads. I personally build around squads, A, B, C etc (with cool snazzy names) and I find myself attached and worried about my SQUAD health versus individual soldiers. Anyway, that's how I found myself "caring" or feeling "part of the team". I created a special squad called "hell week" early game, comprised soley of rookies that have yet to earn their place, sadly, they started dying like crazy nearing mid game and it had to be desolved.

Lolwut? Prior military operator here. The best aspect of XCOM and Xenonauts is unit management, bro. It's at least half of the game if done properly.

As someone currently managing over 100 soldiers late in a campaign, I miss managing 20. I have 11 separate permanent squads and a bunch more rookies I am trying to figure out how to integrate. The roughest part is buying weapons and armor for them all, because I let them operate simultaneously. In the early stages of buying the top tier gear, but making sure the squads facing Gatekeepers and lots of MEs are fully outfitted.

Shewt dude. Best use that squad function. I have five squads of seven right now alone, working on my sixth squad. From my throw away soldiers known as the B-Team to my grizzled ex-convicts known as Sunday squad i'm super attached to my guys. I heart them all unequally. Also, you can get that squad cohesion mod and that adds another layer of 'cool' to it all really. Gives you another reason to form squads and keep them together. I never had to do 20 soldiers all at once though. It's 2-4 here and there.
