How to restore squad upgrades and huge environmental damage?
While i have been loving LW2 and all of its changes, having to build each gun or armor set was one of the most annoying parts of EU and EW for me. I get that its to make you prioritize certain soldiers and make decisions on supplies, but its just not my personal cup of tea. I'd like to restore the squad-wide upgrades vanilla uses (and bump up the supplies cost to compensate)

Alternatively if possible, i'd like to make it so that upon researching tier N, i can purchase the global squad upgrade for tier N-1 (ex get squad wide lasers after researching mag weapons, then squad wide mag weapons after getting coilguns) as i dont want to just rip out one of the mechanics completely.

Something else i miss from vanilla are doing tons of damage to buildings because tearing down a wall with a giant laser beam just felt awesome. Theres already a specific perk for the grenade launchers and the shaped charge, but is there a way to tone up the environmental damage for late-endgame weapons? or at least increase the fire spread to what it was for maximum FIRE!!!

Grenadiers have to NOT take 'needle grenades' as their first option and later on their nades can blow up stuff previously impossible. Also rockets from 'technicians' seem to do alot more early on and giving Technicians Exo Suits doubles their rocket or flame usage and boosts 'Roust'. The only way to get round the unfair jump in enemy strength just because you hit 'research next weapon' tier, is to use the console and make sure your squads have all they need to match them. Some say "Boo - that's cheating", but the computer cheats when it sends lancers to stun units they should of had no idea were in that position, it gets the jump on you when you advance research, etc. using the console just to even weapon tech to enemy strength IS fair imo. Also...do not research 'Skulljack' to early. This delays enemy strength improvements alot. At least then you can rank up squads and get better gear ahead of time.

I was under the impression that difficulty spikes occurred per month, not per tech. Interesting. Either way using the console with giveitem and giveresource with a negative number should work for now, thanks. I still would like to handle it without the console though in case it messes with other systems.

Also this isnt my first playthrough, i have had to break through the spikes before lol. Just wanted to make things easier to manage since i frequently forgot to gear up everyone.

Nope the enemy strength upgrades are triggered by tech improvements. For instance, by holding off on the Skulljack missions, All my squads have magnetic weapons and decent armour. I'm just about to get Advanced Coilguns and I still have a few 5 hit point enemy soldiers. No Archon's yet or Elite Mutons etc.
