The Charred

Feedback
I like the character concept and how it is suppoused to work, but I guess it has been simplified too much in terms of "new challenging gamestyle", due to the fact that too many health pickups spawn: half bombs, bombs, soul bombs, black bombs, and even golden bombs (which work like golden hearts, because of course all of these bombs are just hearts reskined).
So basically, there isn't really that much of a playstyle to master when you are so plenty of health and you're even invulnerable against most of the explosive enemies.

This is just a suggestion:
What about limiting Charred's max health to 6 containers, that have to be filled with actual bombs?
In my opinion six would be perfect, because the player would have to think more about his choices: when to drop a bomb, which devil deals are really worth to take, and consider the possibility that he may not find a health up to restore his health if he got too greedy with them.

Right now Charred acts like a normal character who takes damage when drops a bomb, and even if the idea of his playstyle is amazing, he hasn't got enough limitations to be really affected from that.

This has been my personal feedback, i hope you'll find it useful.
Don't forget that this is your character, and you have to make it in the unique way you imaginated and wanted him to be.

(I actually didn't want to make a topic, but it seems like I had to, due to the fact that comments can't have more that 1000 characters)

He's already re-worked the character once. I enjoy it from what it was before. It had 3 hearts start, bombs were really uncommon, you had to get damaged a full heart to drop a bomb, he had 3.50 damage but a .75 multiplier. You had Eve without ♥♥♥♥♥ damage to start, which was painful, as well as the inability to drop bombs for secret rooms, tinted rocks, pots, etc as not all rooms have a way to damage yourself.

I actually find him to have a unique playstyle. You get almost unlimited bombs if you find the health, however, if there is no health, you have to weight whether taking damage to set a bomb for a rock or room is necessary. If you lower yourself to one heart on a devil deal, it makes bombing objects much more risky.

However, it is your opinion. I just find this version better than the last, as he's enjoyable. :)

You know, originally the bombs weren't just hearts reskinned, but it turned out that it's just a lot less effort when the coding this whole mess together. I want to get more testing in before I do big changes to the character again, but essentially I like the idea of sacrificing health for damage. The only change I may implement is that dropping a bomb costs a full heart instead of just half a heart, but I'll really have to be careful with balancing, because it can make the character extremely frustrating to play.

Charred went through a lot different iterations before arriving where he is right now, and currently I'm pretty happy with how he plays. I don't think I'm going to make large changes, but I may tweak values here and there if more people feel that he's not unique enough.

First, great job with the improvements. Really cool. A few concerns though
-Bombs should come from your Red Hearts first when you have spirit hearts. Otherwise spirit hearts become kinda useless as you need to immediately get rid of them.
-Using bombs and hurting yourself shouldn't affect the deal with the Devil, it should be like an IV bag. Always, people blow up tinted rocks to get protection from taking red heart damage, but with Charred it's pointless as you lose your chance when you blow up.

Just some things you might not have thought of.
