Argument for an alternative version that includes this familiar in item pools instead
I figured having a Discussion for this topic was better than me trying to reply with very long comments, hah.
This is a follow up response to these (or similar) comments:

Great familiar! But I agree with the idea of an altarnative version having it included in item pools rather than gaining it automatically, as it is not only convenient, but really adds a significant advantage to the player, so I hope you consider it!
It is not in the item pool because... well... it does nothing except remplacing the other familiars (only the Afterbirth+ ones, not the modded ones)

Nice mod! But the free box feels way too generous. It's not like the followers-kind of familiars are useless under normal circonstance and the plushie itself feels more like a powerful upgrade than a convenient tool, so why not make it available in a treasure or shop item pool instead?
Because the main reason of this mod is not having too many followers on the screen. Adding it in the treasure or shop pool (lost in 500+ items) is the best way to not having it at all when we need it the most ;)

What I mean is that imagine a run where the first familiar you get is Incubus (so it's in your first familiar "slot", really good, almost like having 20-20), but imagine getting it as your 4th-5th familiar, you won't have much control over it now, so you can't rely on it as an overall damage/dps increase (it's hard to control, lags quite behind you, its shots are not a reliable damage source).

So familiars generally lose usefulness quite fast the later slot they are in (specially the ones that shoot, which also get handicapped by non-shooting familiars that occupy slots anyway), having them all combined in the very first familiar slot and all shots coming from there gives you, at least, a bigger and bigger damage output increase, it can be really advantageous.

There's also the fact that weaker familiars tend to be avoided and not getting picked up at all when encountered, so their familiar slot is reserved for more useful/powerful ones. With Plushie, though, the best option would be to pick up every familiar you encounter, the more, the better.

So that's is why I think having Lost Plushie as an assured item once you get two familiars is quite overpowered. It's a little similar to making sure you get many tears up pills on the first room of the next floor after picking up triple or quad shot (I could probably think of a better comparison, but something like that).

Anyway, I think this familiar is great (even if I wouldn't use it in a normal run) and your other mods are great, too, so thanks!

Well, I fully understand your request and I'm considering a second version of this mod for players like you (though, I'm working at the moment on another mod so it will take some time :)
And tank you for your consideration, have fun !

Awesome and I don't want to seem like I'm demanding a different version (it's your mod and it's free!), but it's great that you're considering it. :beatmeat:
