@Luke18033, Did you try the example map? If the example map doesn't work for you I don't know what the problem is.

If the problem is in your own map, did you set Entity Name Fix Up to None on the instance? This was added to the current version of readme. If you've done this and you're still getting the error you could give me a link to the vmf and I'll have a look.

The example map works, but the map I made doesn't. I have the instance in instances/prototype instead of custom instances/adhesion, and I've changed the example map to use the instance there.

The blobs aren't being recolored in any maps, only the gel that's actually painted a surface is.

Since you didn't answer I'll ask again, have you definitely set 'Entity Name Fix Up' on the func_instance to 'None' in your map?

Were the blobs purple when you played Adhesion? (my map on the workshop)

Oh, there's the problem - I thought "Entity Name Fix Up" referred to "Fix Up Name", so I set that to "None" :P. I've fixed it now, but it's still not working, although I'm not getting those errors in the console anymore.

One thing to note is that all of the brushes are tied to a single func_brush entity, except for one (the room brush). Would this cause any issues?

The blobs are correctly colored purple in the original map.

I'm not sure about having everything tied to a single func_brush, I have had problems on a different map with collisions being weird when everything was tied to a singe entity.

If you've followed the instructions accurately I believe it should work, I suggest you compare your map to the example and see if you can spot any differences.

The colour of the blobs is being overriden by textures in portal2_dlc2, I'm not sure if the grey texture in there was created by Valve or BEEMOD. When the desired textures are packed into the map they gain priority over the filesystem.

Then put the files in portal2_dlc3

In my custom map, the blobs of adhesion gel are not dropping from the dropper I made. (Yes, the dropper works, the blobs just don't fall)

@rft50, sounds like something's wrong with the gravity trigger. I suggest you double check the settings and compare it to the example map.

I got it to work, and I think I know what the problem is; don't give your blob of paint (bomb) a parent.
Prototype  [developer] 12 Feb, 2017 @ 8:06pm
Ah yes, my statement in the readme is incorrect. Parent everything to the room object, except moving objects (gel bombs and cubes).
rft50 13 Feb, 2017 @ 6:56am
Now I have the problem of adhesion gel from bombs not painting, but paint from a paint_sphere works fine.

Did you enable 'Paint in map' in the map properties? Have you added lighting to your map? See: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Gel_(Portal_2)
rft50 13 Feb, 2017 @ 1:17pm
"Paint in map" is enabled, there's a light in the map, yes.

i've done my final list of propositions what i think you should (and that you can) improve for us mappers with the purple gel 'cause i think we can do big stuffs with it:

-Allow more than 1 cube to be adhesive (and allow multiple droppers if possible)
-Allow two cubes to adhere to each other (and more..)
-Add skins for others cube types (reflective + ball)
-Authorise the purple gel to have effect in angled panels

Thanks for your work yet ;)

I don't think anged panels will work well with the animation. Could be possible, but not with the animation.
