PSA - Not the Warhawk Rocket Launcher
Here's a few commonly made comments and statements:

"Lol, its just the warhawk rocket launcher"
"bad wepon, itz just da warhawk"
"warhawk? "
"It looks nice, but don't you think it looks a little similar to the warhawk?"
"seems familiar, hmm... HMM.... AH I KNOW! it's a copy of the FAMAS | Spitfire"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: "It looks nice, but don't you think it looks a little similar to the warhawk?"

A: No.

It has an entirely custom model and texture, the only real similarity between the skins being the "Shark Face" design located near the front of the gun.

Here's a few other things that can help you tell them apart:
-The Warhawk has a huge animal pin-up on the outward facing side, the Spitfire does not.

-The Warhawk launcher is mostly browns and camouflage with a small amount of different colors here and there, like its brightly colored orange muzzle.

-Spitfire is comprised mostly of blacks, grays, and olive green. With the obvious exception of the face design, which is red and white.

-Yes, they both have a "shark face" but no, they are not the same.

-Traditionally, as well as like what is depicted on the Warhawk, it is a large downward turned basically frowning face of pristine quality because it has been properly/professionally painted.

-Spitfire's face design is a little different, while its intended reference is the same style of shark face, it is instead however, smiling instead of frowning. In addition it is also rather poor in quality because it is intended to have a hand-painted appearance, as if the soldier possibly painted it on himself after seeing one of the planes, but perhaps couldn't remember it exactly as it was.

Next question.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: But why still make the gun after valve added the Warhawk? Its kinda redundant after the fact.

A: Well actually, I as the concept artist of this weapon actually had concepted this gun long before even the first weapon skin update, or possibly even before CS:GO was released.

While at first it had a much more different design, the main idea kinda always stayed the same, it always had the face and some tail fins.

Heres a few different incarnations of the design from the past, one which was the very first design, and the other which was much later in development and more greatly resembles the final product:

And here you can see what was the "final" concept of the spitfire, and even then this is a rather dated concept:

If i had drawn the concept again after all these years it probably would have ended up being something completely different, that wouldn't have fit with the Frontline! project's guidelines.

In the end it was rather over designed and cluttered, and we cut a lot down/off of it before we finally settled with the final project.

Next question

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: But still even though your concept came first, why still keep the face? surely you could have just simply removed it.

A:The simple answer is, yeah we could have, but we decided that the face was a sort of "defining feature" of the gun so we decided to keep it anyways, because we figured it'd turn out a lot different, and it did. We figured that since its a rather old standing, commonly used design that it wouldn't matter anyways.

Next question

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: The face design is a common element? You've mentioned that it is used in a lot of war related games and media, why's that?

A: I'll give you a minute to ponder on it before I answer...

You guessed it, Hotshot!

It existed in real life before it existed in video games.

It was a commonly used paint job that soldiers like to put on their planes as a scare/intimidation tactic, or possibly even just for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles. I guess after the pictures of the planes got around it just kinda became really popular and kinda became "symbolic" of that type of plane.

Next Question

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final question

Q: But what about the name of the weapon? There's a skin in CS:GO that has the same face, but also has the same name! You're just being un-original!

A: What do you think the name of the plane that originally debuted on was?

You guessed it again!

The Supermarine Spitfire. A British single-seat fighter aircraft that was used by the Royal Air Force and many other Allied countries before, during, and after World War II. But also still actually sees a lot of use today by collectors and in museums as static displays.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully some of these answers can help shed some light, and prevent future re-postings of the same stupid comments and questions.

P.S. Here's a picture of one of the planes, they look really cool, especially the ones that have been well maintained after all these years:

looks like that skin
That first Spitfire concept piece (the one on the left side) looks really nice, and reminds me of my favorite rocket launcher from Destiny (though its name evades me)
