Yet (not) Another Maps Pack

What does 2:1 mean?
What difference is there between the 2:1 and normal maps? I'm looking for a more expansive experience like in Civ 5. Preferably with better starting locations (IE: not so darn close).

I have been wondering this as well. Can't seem to find any clarification as of yet.

It's the width/height ratio.

Vanilla maps use a ratio of 1.6, but a ratio of 2 is better for earth-like map.

The number of plots on the map (width*height) determine size name.

For example:

"Standard" Map Size is 84*54 = 4536 plots
"Standard (2:1)" Map Size is 96*48 = 4608 plots

"Large" Map Size is 96*60 = 5760 plots
"Large (2:1)" Map Size is 108*54 = 5832 plots
Thank you so much for clearing this up!
