GIANT EARTH crash on creating new game @ minimum graphics settings

I saw the warning ofc, but having been able to always play Giant Earth prior to GS I wonder what else, besides perhaps a better gpu (radeon r9 fury, 4 GB HBM), I could test. Pointers anyone? Thx :)
