Sea Level Rising Fix
Hello everyone,

I have fixed the sea level rise on my end, and essentially I have delved into the XML files to edit the sea level rise due to climate change. This has fixed my game crashing later on using these maps. Yes there will be no sea level rises, but no one likes that anyway.

Go to the file steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\DLC\Expansion2\Data\Expansion2_RandomEvents.xml and open in a text editor (preferably something like VS Code)

Go to line 64 where you will find the comment:
<!--These must be in ascending order of climate change points.-->

Below this comment is the sea level event rise. They look like this:
<Row RandomEventType="RANDOM_EVENT_SEA_LEVEL_RISE1"
<Row RandomEventType="RANDOM_EVENT_SEA_LEVEL_RISE2"
<Row RandomEventType="RANDOM_EVENT_SEA_LEVEL_RISE3"
<Row RandomEventType="RANDOM_EVENT_SEA_LEVEL_RISE4"
<Row RandomEventType="RANDOM_EVENT_SEA_LEVEL_RISE5"
<Row RandomEventType="RANDOM_EVENT_SEA_LEVEL_RISE6"
<Row RandomEventType="RANDOM_EVENT_SEA_LEVEL_RISE7"

For each row there is a ClimateChangePoints variable. I changed this for each row to be over 90, but in ascending order as it mentions in the comment. The latter 4 rows have more effects to the ClimateChangePoints variable will be further along. I changed mine for example to 90, 91, 92 and so on.

What this did was cause my next sea level rise to be in 2000+ turns, beyond the turn limit of most games, but this also kept in the disasters and other effects like volcanoes and storms still in the game allowing me to play these large maps without issue.

Could some others please test this there end and if it is also successful we can ask the developer of this mod to add it into the description to inform others.

Thanks

I did this on the max map size and I am the biggest polluter by a mile. I am currently on turn 550 and the sea level will rise in 1700 turns.
Just wondering why this isn't a mod yet, I couldn't imagine it being hard to implement. Thank you by the way
It would be lovely if someone made a mod out of this so Epic players can enjoy it as well since it is difficult to find where these files exist at on Epic
Also, since sea level rise essentially just enables coastal flooding, and there is a disable coastal flooding option in the mod, maybe that can partially if not fully fix the issue?

Max map size? You mean giant earth or enormous?

Enormous. It essentially removed the limit the mod suggests

Too many assets on the map will still randomly crash the game. Satellite map reveal also.
Playing DX11 version may lower crash changes also.
OMG man, this really works. You just saved my game (and my life). Thanks a lot!!!
