Lord Troop Respawning Question (Adressed)
So I've been playing a game along the typical route (become vassal, grab fiefs, become king, conquer), joined the Baccus Empire around day 300 after Ravenstern fell flat on their face. After going and grabbing my old fief the Kingdom of Sarleon declares war, in addition to the Fierdshaven that we were already fighting. So they send a big army to attack Laria (my old fief). I take out like 8 different lords. Then a few days later they attack Ethos, so I take them out. This time I make sure to check which lords I was killing (since some had very nasty troops). I take out King Ulric and his lion heavy doomstack. I take him prisoner and he breaks back out with 2 other lords I had imprisoned before the time stage even changes, no biggie, but that was all I could do to slow down him respawning.

What was a bigger deal is when I saw him 4 days later marching with a full army towards Laria with a fully restored army of 250 troops, including over 80 assorted lion and knight troops. He's not the only one that happened with either. Lords routinely are fully charged within a week of a defeat. To make things weirder peaceful troop replenishment (a lord just generally milliing about with their holdings) seems much slower. Between the war with the Fierdshaven, the war with Sarleon, and the war with Ravenstern (they joined shortly after the 3rd major route of Sarleon and marched a 1k followed by a 4k down). By my count I have killed at least half (usually more) of 8 ai armies in the last in game month. I don't really know how to make this work. I did 'beat' this mod once about a year ago and I do not remember enemy armies being that brutal, but I could be forgetting.

Is this a glitch? If not, then what would you recommend for how to fight wars? Currently my best ideas are either lowering the difficulty settings vastly to allow effortless victories, or to try suiciding the lords following me when their troops run low so that they will ideally benefit from the same instant replenishment, but I am well aware that I lack both knowledge and skill with this game. I have not taken screenshots, but if some are needed then I have confidence that this will repeat itself, so I can do so.

Addendum: I have tried imprisonment. However while it did help, there were still about 2 lords breaking out of a prison tower per week, minimum, and I've never held a faction leader longer than about 5 days. This also meant that the re-imprisonments were destroying relationships with lords very quickly. Not that that is a deal breaker, but imprisonment hasn't been effective enough to justify it.

Did you start a new game from this latest update? Huge issues trying to use old save files.

What was your Right to Rule when you founded your kingdom? Maybe if you have a save from back before that you could spend more time sending out companions and other things like getting married to raise your RtR.

Are you sure you have prisoner towers in these cities and you put the prisoners into the dungeon rather than leaving them in your inventory? This escape rate you speak of sounds like what you find with low Prisoner management and in your party.

What is your prisoner management skill at?

Last thoughts:
- Release lord disposition types that will make good vassals for you later to raise your standing with them and honor/rep. I even take cunning ones if they have family members which will be my vassals.
-You might look to see if old tweaks would work to change the prisoner escape chance and lower it slightly.
- Possible they messed up this rate

The game is from the latest update, I started playing again fairly recently. I have not founded a kingdom yet, and am still a vassal. Perhaps this was a mistake, but my intention was to establish a core fief of at least 1 city with a garrison large enough that could hold it before I went independent. My prisoner management is 8. I triple checked that there was a prisoner tower, and that it was not damaged. Since the escape rate when I had a prisoner in my party was massive, I got into the habit of immediately running for my town to deposit the prisoner(s) before they could escape.

I also did a bit more research, and heard that increased campaign ai actually increases lords ability to regain their troops. Is this what is causing the massive respawn?

Your own prisoner management is important only for prisoners you have with you, in your field army. If you keep prisoners in a fief, pm of seneschal of the given place is taken in to calculations. So train your steward first before filling your dungeons. And build prisoner tower (which you did).

Nobles can replenish armies only if they have money - look for "wealth" on given NPC page. If they have good fiefs, they can accumulate resources for later and pay for reinforcements. Fiefless nobles gets 1000 denars allowance, which is enough to get only crappy soldiers.
King has Lion chapter in Sarleon - gets extra troops from it, on the top of normal reinforcements. His army will be big as long as he can pay for it.
So it is possible to e.g. attack caravans, ride villages to damage enemy kingdom indirectly.

Thank you, that actually helps a great deal. I had not known about the prisoner management needing to be the seneschal's (although I probably should have guessed) If I were to hazard a theory, my own campaigns have been focusing lords on conquest, so the usual burning of villages/killing caravans hasn't been happening, which meant that any lord I hadn't reduced to being fiefless was rolling in denars.

Just to add an addendum for those who might be having similar issues, the wealth appears to work as a stockpile. They maintain troops and make money from towns similar to you, but instead of going to villages, they pay a bunch of money to get troops. The amount depends on campaign difficulty. If they have a lot of stored up money and income they can restore their army nearly instantly. However supporting an army beyond their means seems to drain income (so the fiefless can't maintain decent armies very long), but lords with lots of income who don't lose troops very often get very resistant to defeat. The best way I've found is to try and defeat and take those lords prisoner as often as possible for (ideally) large ransoms. The ransoms and recruiting will drain their funds until they have to wait for their fief income before they can recruit an army. By the same token dragging lords into bloody battles with unique spawns is a good way to drain their wealth and weaken their kingdom, although sometimes that backfires when its your kingdom.

Yes, the wealth of the Lords affects all this, but in any case, after launching a new game, it really seems insane to me if one of the kingdoms was lucky at the beginning and they captured a couple of cities (they made peace almost immediately, I had this with Reverstern and Sarleon), wealth accelerates very quickly, and somehow trying to defeat the lords seems useless, because, killing an army of 200+ people in a couple of days, it appears again, while with a sufficiently large number of top troops (knights / armored arrows / orden soldiers.

Never received a ransom (for the lord, not the king) more than 6k while their condition was more than 300k.
