Invalid number of troops crash?
Started a new game on 3.9.5 yesterday. Today I loaded a game and the map seemed to be missing a texture, but everything worked fine otherwise. I closed the game, steam quickly downloaded something, which I assumed was the missing texture. Attempting to load any save now crashes with "invalid number of troops 1204".

I've redownloaded and the problem persists. Am I screwed here?

Verify or install warband again. Make sure you use the latest version.

You cannot use 3.9.4 saves in this patch. They are not compatible.

As stated, it was a new game started after the 3.9.5 patch and reinstalled after loading the load save crash.

Not a huge deal as I don't mind restarting. Wouldn't mind getting that game back though. I had made a lot of progress.

Same problem. The save was based on 3.9.5 and now I am getting that same error.

I would read changelog which describes steps to follow in order to reduce savegames corruption.

Started a new game. If anyone finds a solution to this, I'd like to hear it in case it happens again and for anyone else with the problem.

I did google around before posting and it might be a rare problem with native as well. One person seemed to say he fixed it, but didn't say how. The post was years old. Another person suggested using the save game editor, but I didn't try it.

Id like to know if its possible to not update the mod on steam, otherwise, it would be great if the developers could offer which version to use on steam, that would be super usful, while i appreciate the developers updating there mod, restarting everytime is not option for time strapped person.

No one with this problem is using old saves. Read the posts.

Hit with the same issue as well.

Save was created for 3.9.5, trying to load it causes the game to exit with error msg "invalid number of troops: 1204"

Backup save in the savegames folder and integrity verification didn't help either.

1204 troops savegame - could someone share one?

Unfortunately, I've overwritten them all, I did have them backed up, but believe they're now deleted.

Just as an update, I have been playing quite a bit on a new game and haven't run into the problem again.(fingers crossed)

I don't know anything about the workings of MB, but it is odd steam downloaded a tiny file after the 3.9.5 update and after I had been playing a new game. Maybe something with the original 3..9.5 download?
