Gonna sound stupid but, just play the game. Kill bandit groups. Fight the jatu. Its not a super fast paced game it all comes together over time. But training fields work. Get the points to help train your troops faster too. Recruit some of the heros around the realm. Sir Roland is pretty good for that. Most of the Knight heros are actually.

Not at all, friend ! I know playing the game helps but I was thinking something more akin to ''This kind of bandit is easier to kill.'', but thanks anyway for the advice. It had been a while since I played Warband/this mod and leveling up troops felt like a slough for some reason.

Honestly, You get alot of xp fighting the jatu or the seas raiders but early on there super strong so you have to be careful. The Snake cultists as well give good xp but same thing they get tough. Hope you enjoy the mod bc to be honest its 1 if not the best mod for warband.

If i quit the game and load again, will it clear the troops experience already gained?

It's been a while since I played, but I think I can give some pretty good tips in this area for anyone with the same question.

Part of the early game is learning and knowing what troops level up to max tier quickly. Lower level troops level faster. For example if we compare infantry troops of the Empire vs D'Shar, we see the Empire Heavy Infantry is level 20, while the D'Shar Warrior is level 26. The Empire troop will reach max tier faster than the D'shar. It's for this reason it pays to be selective when picking your troops, especially in early game. Of course, this goes out the window if you're trying to stick to a specific faction, but you could still pick up mercenaries and minor faction troops that may level faster than your chosen major faction.

A troop that is used will level faster than one sitting at the bottom of the roster. This goes for the training stat as well. Moving a troop to the top of the roster before the daily training xp will grant them more xp than if they had been at the bottom.

The training stat is very important here. It may not seem like much, but once you have a few companions and yourself with a few points, you'll be leveling troops very quickly. Troops will jump a tier every day without doing anything. Don't bother on low level companions as they won't contribute much. Once a troops level is higher than your companion, that companion won't contribute XP to that troop.. Wait till they're over 21 before you consider dropping points into training. When they're approaching 30, you can start to drop every point in training if you like. Grab the Training book early on and keep it with you. I shoot for 10 training on my main characters. You can get a couple free points along with the 2 points from the book.

For troops that are slow leveling, you might be better off grabbing them from prisoner trains. D'Shar Stalkers are a good example. They take awhile to level, but you can often pick up loads of them from prisoner trains. You can end up with 50+ without ever leveling a single one. Empire Knights, on the other hand, level extremely quick compared to every other knight. Of course the Empire Noble Legionnaire Recruit is useless, so squirrel them away at the bottom of the roster until they become knights.

Some Troops I recall using often besides those mentioned. One other thing to keep in mind is the price. You want the best troops for your money without breaking the bank.

Cobra warriors are decent early game and level quickly and they're cheap.. Not so great late game, but you can still make use of them. Mystmountain warriors are similar. I make use of these mid and late game sometimes just as throw away troops for softening up an army. Heretic Worshipers are also similar, but if they reach max tier, they're decent knights. I'll add Jatu Lancers here, but won't usually bother leveling them. Just grab prisoners. Getting them to Battle Riders takes forever, and they'll most likely die before then, but they're useful.

One archer that may be overlooked is the Veccavi Sentinel. They level relatively quickly, and can be leveled from peasant woman. They're proficient archers and in melee. A bonus is they can have spears which work well for any cavalry that reach them. Use other archers for sieges if available. I really like this troop. Pick up any Maiden Warriors and level about 20 sentinals. Along with these, Mercenary Sharpshooters may be very expensive, but they're also very effective. Grab a few in taverns.

Mercenary Sergeants are similarly very expensive, but some of the best front liners. Buy them rather than leveling, although the previous tier troop is okay, and if they hit top tier, all the better.

I could sit here and list every troop, but it's really just a game of learning which troops are worth leveling, and which you're better off grabbing from prisoner trains or taverns. Keep in mind, troops level 39 or higher are not available from prisoner trains, so you'll have to level them.

One tactic I've used is to go through early game with a minimal or no army at all. Collect all your companions, build money. At some point, drop a gold bar on Mercenaries and you instantly have a decent army, along with anything you want to fill it with. At this point, you can start building using a combination of leveling troops, and prisoner trains.
