Millennium Dawn: Chernarus Submod

Adding new land masses
Chernarus and Takistan is easy enough to mod in, considering that they're both situated on mainland continents. As for the rest of Bohemia Interactive's ficitonal nations, it would require modding new land masses since they're all island-nations.

So I've taken the liberty of trying to start editing the map-files and see if I can contribute with anything other than just flags.
I've tried placing the nations as close to where the fans have speculated where they might be situated (other than Sahrani that has official coordinates).

I've modded nothing but provinces so far and have yet to mod the terrain, height- and normal-mapping.

What do you think of the positions?

Altis and Stratis are actually real places. Limnos Island in the Aegean Sea is Altis, to scale. South of it is where Stratis is.

That being said you could place the islands where they actually are, but it may require shifting some other Greek islands around.

It would make it a little politically awkward to have it surrounded by Greek territoryas well as make the NATO-CSTO conflict a bit more complicated.

These aren't final positions, I'm really uncertain about the positioning of the OFP-islands.

Regarding Takistan and Chernarus, you might want to take into account the fact that Chernarus and Takistan actually border one another with a coastline to the East of things, which might throw a considerable spanner in your plans land-wise. http://i.imgur.com/aMsIrGc.jpg

I'd suggest making Green Sea an offshoot of the Black Sea, with Ardistan, Takistan, and Karzeghistan going all the way south until they are separated by a small channel with Turkey. http://i.imgur.com/DqXFnRX.png

Of course, that's if you want to sacrifice scale. Chernarus as evident is way smaller than it is in the current state of the mod. But that's Arma and scale for you.

The islands of Arma:
Sahrani: I'm pretty sure someone said its based off of Guadoupe island in the Carribean.

Everon: Based off of Krk island off the coast of Croatia.

Kolgujev: The topography was based off of Tenerife island in the Canary islands.

Malden: Based off of Lefkada island in Ionian sea off the coast of Greece.

Desert island: Meganisi island in the Ionian sea, off the southeast coast of Lefkas/Malden.

Altis: Limnos island in the Aegean sea.

I think thats all of the Arma islands. Nogova not included as I think its actually purely fictional.

Also I realise the locations of these islands in real life are in way different locations than they would be in Arma, but I figured it wouldnt hurt to list them off.

All OFP islands are supposedly in the Green Sea which is just off the coast of Chernarus, so putting them in the Black Sea could be a viable option, couldn't it?

well according to the wiki, Takistan is bordering with Chernarus

It's rather troublesome, having to replace real land with fictional one. If we have to add new landmass within the existing continents, as well as an entire new sea area, the rest of the world map will have to be significantly altered and messed around with.
