ANIMATED PIP-BOY [Build/Destroy Tool] re-work
I have wanted this for along time but now there is a strange PDA
I still want this! But I wouldn't see myself using if very often now that there is a strange PDA out. I think it should be a separate style for the PDA but you can't choose the style unless you have the hat.

And perhaps you can choose if you want to put it in the PDA slot or if you want to just ware it as a cosmetic item as we have been.

I also don't think valve should add different PDA's But instead should add "Blueprints" for new buildings and you would just swap out the blueprints inside the PDA. So if they ever add a new Dispenser or Sentry you would find, craft, or buy the blueprints and just swap out the default blueprints in the PDA for the new ones.

I like the idea of the style that can only be got via unlock, but the blueprint not so much. There is a reason they picked a robot hand for the gunslinger: it was so that you can always tell what type of sentry an Engy is using no matter which weapon they had equipped because glove=normal and robot-hand=mini. So if you saw some one with the stock PDA out, you'd have to be able to know which buildings he could build before he builds them, otherwise he has an unfair advantage.

I do agree that engineer with the gunslinger is vital for saying “Hey this engineer can only build mini versions of sentry. However if a engineer is fighting you one on one I don’t think it would really matter to instantly know what buildings he can build (besides mini or other fast building “buildings”) since buildings have setup time and start with low health. (Maybe gunslinger would automatically build mini versions of what’s in the PDA sentry slot?)

I personally like the idea of being able to swap out blueprints for the PDA because, while I do like the gunslinger I don’t necessarily enjoy the “you have to equip this to build that” mechanic. Now they did it, and it works fine for the gunslinger/mini sentry. But I wouldn’t want to be forced to equip a different weapon/PDA to build a different kind of dispenser (mini dispenser) Or a completely different kind of building (defensive engineer pack)

The robot hand serves as another visual clue saying “This engineer has 25 more HP he will be slightly harder to kill” which is why you can see it no matter what his active weapon is.

P.S. The work you have put into this is amazing And I really hope valve adds it as a style so I can still use a strange PDA but this skin and animations.

You know the Pip-Boy was originally going to have a Strange Variant, but became a Misc item instead? My guess is that if VALVe gets off their lazy asses and adds these animations in (and moves the Pip-Boy to the PDA slot), they will eventually release a crate containing a Strange Pip-Boy, as they originally planned.
