There were many issues with the server - leading to a lot of teamkilling, base camping, lack of incentive to do the PVE mutant hunting and artifact hunting, larger groups roaming around the map at high speed destroying lone players who were not moving as fast, organized groups of players without a shortage of good equipment - smashing those who were looking for a deeper game. In general westerners did not play together as much - and they were never as organized as Russian players.
The server suffered from many problems - including a lack of active staff and active development. After all it was simply a showcase for some of the development to date - but quickly it turned into a showcase of many old developments, it was not kept up to date - and it was generally not interesting for most players.
I've told everyone that the RP server is a much, MUCH better place to see the mod and experience what the game play is truly supposed to resemble - but for whatever reason almost everyone who would consider applying to the whitelisted server decides not to apply.
There just isn't much support for the mod in the west, for whatever reason. If there were more players - and thoughtful people to become a part of our community - perhaps we would have an Official English RP test server ... but alas...
The PVP server was shut down for redesign, and the team talked about organizing an administration and development team for it. It may return, though there has been no word of when, and recently some things have happened to make me doubt that it will return at all....
We will have to see.
