The good news is that Simfphys is such an old addon with years of work behind it that it's in a really good spot to stop receiving updates. It just sort of works as it should for the most part.
You can still download it from the workshop, download vehicles that require it, and spawn those vehicles in under the "Fake Physics" section of LVS.
SimfPhys is getting superceeded by LVS because LVS provides a more sophisticated physics simulation for scripted vehicles. Simfphys worked by "faking" certain physical phenomena that occur when driving a car through mathematical formulas in the Lua script, while LVS works by more accurately and directly simulating certain car functionality and machinery in the physics engine itself. The downsides I see to LVS are that it's more computationally intensive to run and there are less vehicles made for it since it's still a younger addon than Simfphys, but these aren't dealbreakers for everyone and I'm glad I have the choice to "upgrade" to snazzier and more accurate vehicles.
If you're playing on an older computer or running a server with lots of players and addons, Simfphys will probably win out for now because it's easier to run and it has more cars made for it due to its age. If you're playing on a reasonably powerful PC and you're OK with searching specifically for newer car addons that support LVS, then LVS is worth a try. Who knows, maybe you'll appreciate the advantages that LVS brings to the car simulation!
