The trace of humanity upon its surface is marred, bearing the scars of a war of which we were never told. None told us that the greatest fortress of humanity was lost to an invader, but now, we know some of the truth. As our forefathers before us, as they learnt that fire is hot, our curiosity gets the better of us, and we must know the rest.
We are sending a military reconnassaince unit to the surface, to one of the least buried settlements that our scanners could find, to search for more information. To find out who attacked Earth, who drove us from our home, to discover if there is anything left. We have taken the necessary precautions, as our guidelines dictate, and are prepared to erase all information concerning the colonnies that we are now sworn to protect, should something hostile remain on the surface of our old world.
May our ancestors forgive our passage upon the graves of those fallen, and may this place of death not become our tomb as well.
@The Spanish Inquisition Not bad my friend :D
In the summer in 2090, citizens around Earth watched as drop pods fell to the ground in seemingly random patters. At first, nothing happened, but within mitutes, the crash sites turned into a battle ground with Terrans losing men, morale and arms. Within days, all of earth was overrun by these aliens, known of as the Agonites. Meanwhile, the military masterminds of Earth banded together and formed the Earth Defense Force. For a few years, they kept quiet and studied the aliens to find their weaknesses. One day, a satelite detected a high heat signature coming from former Brazil, and shortly afterward, a rocket streaked into the sky. On the rocket was a statelite containing anti-Agonite weapons, and havok rained from the sky. The majority of the Agonites got wiped out, but not before they sent a warning to the Agonite Homeworld. One day, astronomers noticed a flare-like object heading towards the solar system...
In the meantime, the Earth Defense Force (EDF) built zero-gravity shipyards, made warships which would have never been able to leave Earth's gravity well, and sent colony vessels to Mars with a destroyer escort... The Agonite starfleet was approaching, but did not know of the colonization of Mars... In the spring of 2095, Terrans worried as astronomers told them that something, something larger than an EDF battlestar was blocking Mercury from view. Everything was in shadows, and the EDF repositioned their forces to intercept this shadow that was drawing closer every day. Battle began on July 25, 2095, and many Earth vessels plummeted to the Earth in flames leaving craters and destruction on the Earth. It looked as if all hope was lost, but the EDF had a backup plan: a science crew would board a disabled Agonite vessel and transmit data regarding it's weapons and armor composition to Mars, where zero-gravity shipyards were being built. It was a trip of no return, but it paved the way for the destruction of the Agonite starfleet...
Upon the destruction of the last EDF vessel, the Agonites bombed Earth from orbit and started a new invasion. The invasion was slower as the Terrans were not completely unprepared, but Earth was marred, marred beyond recognition. By 2098, the EDF was prepared to return and deal the Agonites a blow that would make they think twice about returning to Earth. New destroyers, battlestars, and cruisers started the trip to Earth. By 2099, they had arrived and battled the Agonites, crippling them beyond repair. The EDF won, but their victory was short lived: Terrans, remembering Earth before the Second Agonite Invasion, exiled the Earth Defense Force for their actions, and gave them two final commands: colonize the stars, and do not return to the Sol System.
Such is the tale of the Exiles, but they shall return.
It's been nearly two centuries since Nuclear War decimated civilization on the beautiful cradle of humanity. And now, with the return of the first humans since then to step onto the soil of their home planet, we now see what little has remained from that terrible World War III. But even now, they aren't alone. Ancient cybernetic robots, known to us as Cyberhounds, plague the surface of Earth like locusts. Long ago, they would help us with whatever we need from them, but exposure to intense heat and nuclear radiation have caused them to malfunction and act more like their flesh-and-bone counterparts. The last humans can only hope to use their greatest skills to help rebuild their home.
But how could this happen? How could such a fate come upon Earth, of all places? Terrorists, half-mad dictator presidents, and an escalation of tension drove the nations of the planet broke the nuclear armistice, sending Nuclear Weapons against every city in the world. wiping out billions before it was all over. In their final moments on Earth, humanity resided underground with their Cyberhounds, preparing a fleet that would take them away, into the stars, to find a new home. And they did, referring to their new home as Terra Nova. Thus, the new Earth prospered.
Now, centuries later, humans finally return to view the skeletons of human civilization, now overgrown with new, almost alien-looking vegetation. And even the Cyberhounds, which we had left behind before, are so happy to see us that they could just devour us! But now, as new rival factions from across Humanity and several other Aliens start to appear, the race to reclaim Earth's resources is on.
But what else could be on Earth that wasn't there before?...
Cool lore. :)
@GEK Vengeful
Writing's kinda a hobby of mine, so when I saw this on the workshop, I jumped to the chance to write up something to help fill in the gaps in the lore.
I could've added more, but it was late and I was tired.
