Known Issues / FAQ
This will be a (hopefully short) list of known bugs or oddities. I'll mark each as one that we're either working on, or that we've decide to accept or can't figure a workaround for. If you have a bug that's not on this list, please let us know in the comments or feedback thread. I'd like to keep this one just things that have been confirmed as my fault.

Feature?

Egalitarian faction will be upset if they form before you leave your homeworld because they want core worlds to be open to everyone, but the option doesn't appear untill you colonize another planet. Thanks HotShot908 for running this one down

Spiritalists have an answer: The Divine. The Divine Empires however just state their God Emperor did it.

It is almost certainly something happening in how it spawns one's empire. It can at least be fixed with a one time event that destroys all non-fallen empire spaceports.

Feature? With FTL Scout Probe

You must research Deep Space Construction (a starting tech in vanilla) before you can build deep space probes.

The auto designer doesn't know about probes, so there's no auto best probe like the other ship classes. You must create a new design, then Probe should be at the top of the list of hull types.

When the F will I get an FTL drive?

Experimental drive should come available to research immediately after quantum physics (physics lab 1) or fusion power. If ion thursters are the last of its 3 prereqs you research it will be drawn randomly at a rate competitive to other tier 1 physics techs.

Practical FTL is unlocked by advanced quantum physics (physics lab 2). It's one of the rarest techs in the game, so you'll probably need to grind several physics techs and be careful about how many new ones you unlock.

Use the console command techweights phys​ to see what techs you might get on your next draw and the odds of each.

Physics labs are unlocked by planetary government tech, so don't ignore society research.

Feature?
Fusion power plants say they unlock FTL components. This is actually referring to the ion thruster lightspeed drive. The game generates this text, it's not a localisation issue.

Bug - Opening the Defenses tab on a space station before you develop defensive platforms seems to cause a CTD.

At some point I'll see if I can create an empty defensive platform to address this, but I suspect that may just move the bubble in the wallpaper.
