Besides, at this early date, the habitat may be more looking like a great tube then a full planetary ring. On the other side, if you keep the idea of a ring, probably the belt should get scrapped...one needs the whole material to build the ring I guess.
Ideally I'd like it so that humans start with the terraforming tech for role play purposes however I don't know how to code that right now. Plus that might mess things up for people playing with a custom human race. I'm not sure.
In regards to the habitat ring, I used the assets from another mod that was provided for people to use. I'd love to design something a bit more unique, or smaller, but I'm just not capable enough lol. I do agree that the astroid belt could be removed to reflect local system mining for materials to build the ring. I'm definately going to play around with that. I also plan to add resources to the tiles on the ring in the next update. I don't like how plain it looked.
Thanks for the feedback!
As for the terraforming at start, it makes sense...looking on our current struggle for spaceflight. With current tech, earth will not get FTL soon, but we allready are on missions to Mars aso. Genetic engeneering and climate control might be good base to terraform other objects before we reacht FTL. Also we are advanced in robot control, probably you might want to think about that option...but it is allready up in Stellaris original game mechanics to start with 4 client robots.
Mars - well, I'd keep it as 60% desert world and stay with terraformable flag. Give it some extra mineral deposits to give good reasons to colonize early.
Habitat - anyhow I do appreciate the goods you dropped in v1.1 I think more reasonable would be the v.1.0 total empty habitat version, so players could equip habitat to their very own model. In my case I built 50/50 energy and food to backup my private expansion efforts.
As I mostly play with pre-FTL mod I really appreciate your fine work, so I could develop my base till I'm ready for FTL.
Terraforming - hm...not sure, but I remember one (cheating) mod to equip player with terraforming on start. Didn't load it, so I forgot the name. But you may be able to find it in the workshop and probably copy the needed code. But, I better like to have it selectable...as an trait would be best. As said, this terraforming mod was allready as a trait if I remember correct. Probably it was a civic...
Did a quick survey for 'World Shaper' ascension perk in Stallaris workshop. You might probably find what you're looking for too.
Appreciate the feedback Kepos and will consider it. I will probably end up with some variations on the mod in the near future, so your suggestions can certainly be incorporated.
If...you would consider different setups, that would be appreciated. GL
Thanks for the feedback.
Yup, I'm actually going to release a scaled back version. I like the idea of shrinking the size of the habitat ring, I'd probably go with 16-tiles tho. But I also have a few compatibilty patches to work on so it might be a little while. But it will be released.
I tested it and I'm actually going to permenently reduce the size of the ring to 16 tiles.
Yeah, seems better balanced now. Also, I did see what you requested for Mars. Unfortunately as far as I know there's no way to force the game to use Sam's continental Mars texture when terraforming takes place. So I will be keeping it a continental world at game start.
Interesting approach. However I think you might be in the minority on that one. Just curious why?
Well there's a 25-tile earth and 25-tile habitat version. That's about as overpowered as I'm going to get.
However I am playing around with the idea of 1.4 removing ganymede and titan terraforming and replacing it with a continental Venus with a custom texture. But I haven't decided yet.
