Civic Redux - Repository/Compatibility Requests

This is the official Civic Redux GitHub Repository. I made this as a place to put the source code of the mod and make it available for people to create ComPatches, Collab Mods or general updates.

RULES
While the source files are freely available, there are some caveats that I'd like you to be aware of if you're going to use this:
  • Do not use any of the content in your own mod, then pass it off as all your own work. If you want to use it to create a mod, please contact me first on Steam (Ungentlemanly Conduct) - I don't bite. Generally, if you ask me it'll be alright. If you don't, and I find it about, I will try and contact you about it, and get (belated) permission if it's fair use. If it's a blatant copy, I'll flag it.
  • Do not monetise any of the content in this mod, either from a directly charging site or from a donation site like Patreon. First, it's cheap. Second, this is freely available content, people generally dislike paid mods, and I won't EVER ask for money or donations through Patreon or anything like that. Third, making money off someone else's free content, no matter how, is essentially stealing someone's hard work and profiting off it.

GUIDELINES
These aren't official Rules, and while I'd like you to follow them, I won't stop you from doing it as long as it doesn't break the rules:

  • You are free to use the mods' contents as a learning tool, but don't just copypaste it and replace the words. Some of the things in this mod were pretty tough to pull off (hello Starborn Swarm), so if it helps you make your stuff, that's fine. However, if you are learning to mod, copypasting is generally a bad idea unless you know what you're doing.
  • If you do end up creating a mod with inspiration from this, please leave a mention about it. It means a lot.
  • If what you're making is a straight-up improvement to the mod (especially the art. I suck at art) I may ask you to upload it straight to the repository. If this happens, you'll get listed as a contributor on the mod. I can't offer any other sort of reward unfortunately.
  • If you're making a compatch (to make two mods work together) or a collab mod (a bunch of mods stuck together) please get permission from the other developers.

COMPATIBILITY REQUESTS
You're free to make compatibility mod requests here. While I may be focusing on the larger updates to this mod (Synthetic Dawn get hype) you can choose to tackle any of the requests here. The more frequent ones will be pinned below for visibility.

I find an inconsistancy between Civic Redux and Glavius's Ultimate AI Megamod which causes duplicate civilian building whilst not allowing the "Idyllc" civics to work. I've drop a comment on the other mod, for compatibility apparently you'll only need to adjust 6 or so buildings.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Which buildings are they? I may be able to put in a fix with my next update.

Hey, yeah, that sounds cool! I've taken a quick look at the work that needs to be done, and I could probably make a quick compatch. I need to do something quick to my own Syncretic Evolution civic anyways so it would have to wait until I release an update on my end, but I'm down with the idea for a compatch with you.

On another note, the main reason why Codominant Evolution I think is incompatible with other civic mods is to make changes to the 3 vanilla permanent civics. How did you work around that issue? I always get a double tooltip bug that shows up when I only overwrite the permanent civics.

@cbshing I don't like changing the entire vanilla file, what I did is made a file called 01_mod_civics (as an example) where I would make changes to anything that is part of the vanilla file. If I wanted to make a change to Syncretic, I would take that civic and put it into the other file, then change it in there.

Hi @Ungentlemanly Conduct, you were right that I could get away with just overwriting the specific civics instead of the whole file! I still have to release that update plus I haven't looked at your new update yet, but I think there the only incompatibilities are with the nuclear survivor civic, the agrarian_idyll civic, and potentially the photoelectrolysis civic?

That's great to hear, I've had a look at my files for any incompatibilities, and the only ones that caught my eye were the Syncretic Evolution and Agrarian Idyll civics. Photoelectrolysis is dependent on Ag. Idyll so it should be OK.
Destructive Tendencies doesn’t work with Powerful and Realistic Orbital Bombardment. Patch request.
