combine homeworld

how about a giant, tiered city built so high there are no skies, only ceilings that only make up more framework for more levels, populatrd by more buildings. Maybe at the top, with a bizzarre (insert color here) sky that reflects the alien nature of the world. Maybe at the bottom, where the oldest buildings are surrounded by gigantic structures and the aforementioned old buildings make up an enormous slum, built for political prisoners.
Why would they build such a city?
it could have begun as a mine, or be in a canyon on a heavily contested planet full of warlike beings, or just be a former resource planet turned UU-equivalent of Tokyo, a massive industrial/cultural hotspot, possibly being phased out and abandoned, looking like Tsutomu Nihei meets Portal 2's earlier chapter, with many areas being overgrown and decaying thanks to the lack of maintenance.

@haveruck Wowee, that is incrediblly described. I enjoy the fact that the buildings are just continously being repurposed and built upwards, and the only notion of it being an Alien world the sky, oh my goodness it's like nectar of the gods right here.

@haveruck Wowee you have inspired me i love your idea maybe another suggestion could be a combine like city or homeworld maybe a wasteland city overrun by combine just an idea.

I got one idea :
Why don't you make un very very cold planet with cave and in this cave there a lot of power crystal , the combine occuped this planet for the crystal to build her AR2 arsenal , you can make un big outpost in the planet and some crystal extractor in the cave , and inside the Citadel the AR2 factory (build AR2 Ammo and (maybe?) combine ball) , the civilisation of this planet is dead (only old civilisation skull and bones) , if you want you can make un big place with combine wall or small outpost with laser's cannon or something esle , and for the environement : make big cold rock and some toxic lac (with blue texture if you can ^^'), the name for this planet is mabye : DIM-LOC-8526 for the union and the civilisation's planet name is : Chandat , you can choose the planet's name ;)

I do enjoy the idea, but however it does clash with the AR2 idea. AR2s and the Combine Energy Pulses are powered by Dark Energy, which is harvested from the ''emptiness'' of space. I've always loved the idea of Combine being situated in Cold climates. All you need is a different idea for why the Combine's presence is there and i'll consider it for sure. However for the two other ideas, A jungle planet with Combine Presence would be interesting - Lava Planet isn't my cup of tea. Just need some clarification for what the Combine's reasoning would be for stationing themselves upon the Cold Planet and the Jungle Planet ideas.

As for the Antlion homeworld, as DoomSpy stated, they aren't clarified if Antlions come from Xen, which is an interetesting area to explore, but however recently researching upon Antlions it's kind of led me to believe they are from Xen, due to their Wings not being able to take them far in high enough gravity and how the Vortiguants know the ins and outs of them (However that vortigaunt thing may just be linked to the fact it's set 20 years after the 7 Hours war).

Mmh... the combine go in cold planet to build a Dark Energy's power plant ?
