Suggestion(s)
The legs are ugly.
But maybe if you made compatibility patch with https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=945707062 you could actually fix that.
You really just need to change the avali leg sprites to be the right size for that mod, that's about it.

Ok I'll start initial sketches soon, maybe later today or tomorrow. I'll also see if I can just implement the compatibility into this mod and if not I'll release a separate version.

Yes it is, because the MM4-N body is weaker than the MM5. The MM5 is suppose to be tankier and the MM4-N is suppose to be more agile. I meant for the mechs to have their own personalities, but I might consider changing that.

A couple suggestions for the mech: For the leg design, perhaps the vanilla (or XS patched) legs could be an assembly of smaller/shorter forward legs directly infront of larger rear legs. Example: http://progv.deviantart.com/art/Daily-practice-294141166 (Forward legs/First two pairs of legs on the righthand side of the example image)). In a similar vein - the quad legs could be the same size (Example: http://m-vitzh.deviantart.com/art/SCHNEEDRACHE-Drone-Tank-441595232).

For the animations, I think (but haven't done this myself) the legs could be sprited/animated so that the legs on either side of the mech (regardless of number) are a single part in the sprite/animation, to make things easier.

As for the general look of the mech, I kinda like it. The bulkier, rounded form suggests the heavy protection that the stats back up, although I can agree that some of the parts maybe look too organic. Perhaps the front section could be made narrower, to give the mech a look or feel like a fighter jet or attack helicopter - and some of the other components could be given a straighter, more rigid/linear look (Example: http://karanak.deviantart.com/art/Air-Superiority-Element-664605852)

Other suggestions I had were for weapons:
-Mining laser arm (as per this mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=756688724)
-Melee weapon, using the distinctive 'hard light' Avali tech for the blade
-Defense drones (deployable drones like the Avali default pet, which provide shields or somesuch)

Some good suggestions! Sadly, I don't quite agree with the first one. I think it's worth keeping in mind how Avali technology is engineered to fit the Avali combat style, that being hit and run tactics. Quad legs imply a more stationary, ground-based operation. Secondly, I just don't think it would look good both aesthetically and mechanically (the way the sprites are structured will make things a bit weird with the hips).

I agree with the way the mech looks though. I believe The problem is that it's just too round. Also there is very little hints of the usual Avali plating, which also contrasts with black undersides. I've been looking at this[avali.wikia.com] a lot lately, and have started to imagine some concepts. There's a lot of ideas I'm contemplating in my head; if I ever draw any of them up (via spriting), I might post them to get some feedback.

The boosters... ugh, I feel so indifferent about these. I think if they weren't designed for this mech and perhaps for another, they'd be great! But these look like someone took some scrapped Avali plates and stuck them to old space age Human thrusters (hey maybe that makes for some great non-canon lore, I don't know). They could definitely use a rework but...

At this point, I could do so many things differently that I rather keep this mech as is, lower its tier and then make something new that looks more the part as an upgrade.

Other than that, I've actually had the same ideas with the arm pieces you've mentioned, so those are something that definitely should make an appearance in the near future (hopefully).

True, but the only things that matter in space is the ability to control ones inertia - so quad legs on the ground could be more defensive, less mobile and provide more surface area for maneuvering thrusters and such.

Basically have them for an alternative 'Slow and heavy' mech to compliment the 'fast and speedy' - possibly making the heavy mech tougher than the Wasp. Just a thought.

Either way, I look forward to any developments - might scribble up my own concepts if those help.

This is something I do plan to do. I'm still not sure on the quad legs concept, but I'll at least give it a try and see what happens.

If you do ever draw up anything go ahead and post them in a new discussion, I'd really love to see what you'd have in mind (and if I do use any for reference, you will most definitely be showered in credit)! Also post any new ideas too as I'll be locking this thread now. I rather have separate threads for different ideas as they can become lost and confused in a single thread.
