I completely agree but im just tired of all of the unrealistic and ridiculous design choices in tf2. And a nice old style camera would be nice for the game.
Everything in tf2 is unrealistic and ridiculous. from rocket jumping to having telleportation in the 60's to 70's.
And the prop in the taunt looks like something from the late 70's.
I'm not quite sure what you're upset about.
not to mention the game has been unrealistic since the start
Well, when the Orange Box was first released it was very far fetched but atleast made sense on a tactical level. TFC is and will always be my favorite Team Fortress in existence. Back on topic, Iv'e only played pre-update console TF2, and after awhile that became very addicting and made plentiful amounts of sense after some insight unto the story and character backgrounds. I just launched it recently to see how much it has changed and holy hell. It's like they went the opposite direction from which they started.
According to lore, the Mann Brothers managed to live 200+ years with special machines, Australia was techonolycaly advanced during the late 1800's, weapons have special effects, Übercharge, there are 1980's aerobics championship based taunts, Spies can cloak, Merasmus is a real wizard, etc. etc. etc.
All that is what makes the game unique. Valve wouldn't have added nothing of this if they wanted a more realistic (cartoony) FPS.
Well, unrealism in tf is a subject I already had in mind so...
Facts here: the wizard and the magic do not afect the time period and the logic of the game, space things have a reason to be there: the mercs contacted aliens and they got weapons ( still not afecting the time period, also popular in the 50's-70's), other things (like rocket jumping or the alcohol blooded demo) are simply there because of the esence of caricature and the black, bizarre humor of the game, it's perfectly fine for the story. So, the problem is not unrealism, that unrealistic things fit absurd humor, this camera's model doesn't.
Some times Valve added things that do not fit any of this, cuz hats and money, and it hurts people like me that like some logic in a game and thus it's beauty. So, this camera has no justification to not fit the time period since the activity of the spy of taking photos is not afected by any of the team fortress events.
-Would that camera be bad for the story? just a little, the polaroid camera model of this taunt came on the 80's, a big flash and a little changing of the model would age it to the 72 so it'll be fine (that's where we are now in the storyline), not the best model but fine. -Is it good to preserve the things that are part of the esence of the game? I think so, it's not that hard actually, you just need a little of research and an explanation to the existence of that item/ taunt. Having history based or funny explanation to things in a game makes it better
Incorrect. According to the lore, they lived "only" 149 years with the machines (from 1822 to 1971). I guess it doesn't matter and my comment is off-topic, but I felt like I had to tell this anyway for some reason.
