Game mode and timer not an option
I used to be able to choose timed mode to see my progress but it just skips to the course after it says knew mode impossible. How do I get the timer mode back

Same. Also all the skip-level sphere are collected at a place far left of the starting point of level 1 (rather than being at the starting point of each level).
When you use Rocket Plugin in BakkesMod to start this map as a local hosted match, then the timed/mode options as well as skip level spheres work fine. But then you lose the ability to restart the level by pressing the reset button, instead you have to wait for the ball to go down.
