Expanded Content/Cartridge Ideas
First and most obvious question. Do you plan on expanding on this mod? It has tons of potential and could contain a set of collectible loot items in conjunction with music instruments.

So my idea is the Starboy item is able to be socketed with game cartridges that determine what game it plays. The cartridges could be rare loot items that you find in dungeons and the like. Cartridges could come in common cartridges and rare for more "modern" versions of games. As mentioned about, the cartridges could be added to a collection (through the Custom Collections UI). Trying to find some games that I think wouldn't be too outrageously difficult to implement, here are some ideas for games:

Common cartridges:

Breakout
Centipede
Defender
Pac-Man
Snake
Space Invaders
Tetris

Rare cartridges:

Arkanoid
Donkey Kong
Dig Dug
Frogger
Galaga

Allowing mods to expand upon this content and add even more cartridges would also be pretty great.

I like the list, but I recommend omitting anything under copyright by Nintendo, such as Donkey Kong. While they tolerate references, they aggressively counter ports and emulation.

I do intend to work on it some more, added something and maybe updating the Meteoroids game too since it's a bit plain. Some other games types I was considering were virtual pets, pipe games, and missile command.

I like the idea of socketing games in, but based on my knowledge of the socket system I think it'd be alot more work for not much difference (There'd actually be more items than a unique Starboy for each, since you'd need the system, + a cart for each). I'll also probably avoid the more sprite based games for now too, but they aren't completely ruled out.

You should make a cartridge that is about space exploration. It's a platformer. Destructible environments and stuff.

Nah, man. I'm yanking your chain. A basic RPG wouldn't be bad. Like Grognak and the Ruby Ruins. That would be a great undertaking, though. I mean, text-based wouldn't be bad. "Obvious exits are NORTH, SOUTH, and DENNIS. What wouldst thou deau?"

Give those "10-minute warp" people something to do to pass the time other than play music.

just make the games under different names and maybe change sprites around. They won't be exactly the same but feel the same.

HOW CAN YOU FORGET METROID?

I did intend for the games I mentioned to, like Meteoroid, be 'adjusted' to suit Starbound and be less Copyright-infringing. The ideas are mostly just for the core gameplay, not so much the series of games they belong to.

Metroid is a big game. A big, big game. With dozens of levels and assets and objectives and scripts needed to make it. The games I suggested are more like arcade games. Ones that are usually self-contained to what you can see on the screen with fairly low depth and variety in gameplay. I do not want the developer to be over-loaded, and I'm sure it would take a long time to make the adventure-style games being suggested above.

While I do love Metroid and RPGs, those types of games would be huge (ie took multiple people years to make). I'm about 80% done with the next game atm. I was considering making a poll for what style the 3rd would be.

If not a full Metroid, perhaps a smaller version of it?
Like, maybe a pixelated mini-game of it.
