Wisent-skull quest
I've killed 11 already of them, yet no Wisent-skull collected. Can i buy it somewhere? And what are the chances to get one?

Skull drop is random and it has a pretty low chance. So, if you don't care about save scum, then (quick) save before you skin the animal.

Mh, ok thanks for answer. Won't abuse that save stuff.
I just want to know how they are so deadly when ramming into to you if there are no skulls in their huge heads? This one aspect of the game is the most infuriating aspect of this game, imo.

Just side step em? Pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Don't worry, they all have thick skulls. Unfortunately, your character isn't very good at processing the skull, so he usually just throws it away.

If you find anything about the game frustratingly difficult, it's time to adjust the game settings. Playing is allowed to be fun.

Ookapia, that's what I thought too, when I started playing. I don't need pain and suffering to have a good time. There are so many ways to customize this game, everyone can find their own way of enjoying it.

The skulls can be a real pain to get, its all RNG. I know I can save/reload, but to be honest, that's more of a hassle than just killing and skinning, then run to the next spawn, rinse and repeat. The fun part of all this, you'll get a lot of leather and meat, which can turn a pretty good profit when processed.

And when you're done with the challenge, don't rest on your laurels. Chances are, you'll get the same one again. Keep hunting deer/moose/wisent, and collect the skulls. You'll most likely need them later.

Yes, I also lack the patience for constant reloading. And unfortunately I decorate too much and always use up all the skulls very quickly, so I always start from almost zero for the king.

I always make sure I have enough potion of camouflage with me and then work my way across the map on foot. I usually need a bit more than three days because at some point I run out of moose and need one or two more skulls from them, so I need the season change. But one might as well take a year and only hunt for one day each season.
I play with 4 day seasons. First day is dedicated to field work and general season management. The rest is for "adventures", including hunting animals (if needed), bandits (every chance I get) and emptying vendor pockets (selling not stealing!).

Camo potions are great, even if I'm not hunting. Some times I just want to run around in peace

If I remember back correctly I'd a five day season. And I killed 13 wisents at the end. Yet never a skull came out. Didn't manage to finish the quest.

It was still in the early game so I'd only a bow with copper arrows. It was a hell of a work, but at the end I made some money because I sold all the meat. :SILLYFOX:
Doing the same quest atm, my first one from this npc. TBH the quests in this game aren't really my cup of tea anyway, but the drop rate should be set to 100%, as long as this quest is active. Otherwise the quest design is simply bad (time limit for the quest, limited animals to get the item from, random drop chance). Especially when playing with the suggested 3 day-cycles. Ah well.

Somehow I don't understand. You're not a beginner and surely know the basics of hunting and how to make it easier for yourself (right weapon, potions, technique). Why is the time limit problematic, 5 seasons is plenty of time? What does that have to do with the normal season length of 3 days, which is helpful when the animals respawn?

Oh I'm sorry I got it wrong then, I thought the quest would fail if the season changed. Does the npc (quest giver) spawn/disappear depending on season or year? I think I confused it then somehow.

Hm, then it's good that we're talking about it :)

The herald comes randomly, but appears at least once in 4 seasons. If you do not accept the quest in a season, he will disappear again. If you accept the quest, he stays until you have completed it or the time has run out. As a rule, the 5th season after accepting the quest is the last chance to hand it in. However, you can check the current status/remaining duration in the diary at any time.

Thank you for the clarification then, even after being a bit salty without having a closer look beforehand. That's good to know. :)
