Not for me
And that's fine but I would like to ask the people here whom might be more adept in video games than myself where I should go to find the entertainment I seek?

I do love the graphics of this game, they nailed it, but I can't help but shake the feeling that the game is somewhat incomplete or if not that then just not for me.

What drew me to the game initially was the combination of building + high graphics + medieval setting, & I would like to find something that is still within these genres but with the following...

- More building
- More buildings
- Less building restrictions
- More combat

Because I don't value certain aspects of Medieval Dynasty I "bypassed" them in order to play the game in the way I wanted to play the game (and there's nothing wrong with that). Things that others likely are attracted to in the game (grinding / management / etc and there's nothing wrong with that).

I wanted to focus on primarily creativity of my town (& when bored / mental block, go fight something, until an idea comes to me).

Everything else in the game that slowed me down from doing that I "bypassed" or didn't do if I didn't have to.

With the above acknowledged, what game is for me? :steamsad:

Have a look at some of the new titles coming out first half of this year. There a about four that might suit you.

The problem is, there are some beautiful city builders out there, but there you don't have a character of your own in the world, like in Medieval Dynasty.
Or there's the amazing Kingdom Come Deliverance, which has the combat but no building.

You might be interested more in pure survival games, though I don't really know any ones set in the Middle Ages.

Enshrouded is coming out soon, and much anticipated, and from what I saw in the trailers, the building system looks amazing, though it's fantasy and not exactly realistic medieval setting, and I also don't know how much it forces you to follow the story.

How do you feel that fits the OP's wish for a medieval setting or building?

Morri is correct twice I had a quick look at Project Zomboid and it's not what I want but Morri is correct on what I forgot to mention...

I like the "Character" of Medieval Dynasty, I like being able to have a Character that I can put clothes on and have it be visible all in high graphics, I like that immersion.

Manor Lords is announced for April 26th.
Oga 20 Jan, 2024 @ 4:21pm
Manor Lords is an RTS, not really something alike other than it being in/around medieval times.

@theMantisman: is the villager aspect important for you? The part where you recruit villagers and have them work for you?
It will also help to find something to recommend if you let us know what parts of Medieval Dynasty you didn't like.

City builder/RTS, and you can't walk around with your own character either afaik.

Its sold as a city builder/RTS, when I look at their salepitches it seems nothing more than an RTS.
We don't call Age of Empires an early city builder either

One of the best games for building for me is still Conan Exiles, but that doesn't tick the box of medieval and comes with some other things you might not like.

From the devs working with us (Toplitz) Mehuman is working on a Vampire Dynasty game with a nice building system and more combat, but it will be more fictional than historical. Because vampires.

I actually do like everything about Medieval Dynasty... which is what makes it difficult to point out things I dislike... I want to KEEP everything Medieval Dynasty has but I want to ADD to it...

- A touch of fiction (secondary to the realism of the game)
EX: The land is filled with "real" animals as is currently but there is an event where a 1 Werewolf spawns, this monster would alternate with other popculture mythic fictional monsters, but only 1 event can ever be up.
- Infinite building location choice albeit water/air/underground
- Exvolve through Early / High / Late eras start 500AD end 1500AD
EX: MC dies/abdicates, Heir inherits but I want to choose my heir from multiple children which brings up.
- Pregnancy Mechanics
EX: Young wife & 1st baby = 99% success -> Old wife & 10th baby = 20% success (failure will kill wife as well).

I still like the village workers to be honest I'd just like them to feel less like NPCs (wife included) and more like individuals that don't all say the same things... I'm numb to towards them. I still like the management aspect of the game and the main character perspective of being able to walk around put on clothes and do things outside of building.

Very difficult to put it to words "Medieval Dynasty 12 with a touch of fantasy?" :steamhappy:

I've watched people play it on YouTube and it looks more punishing than entertaining but maybe that's just me?
