Unable to Launch the Game
I have an RTX5090 ROG gaming laptop and I cannot launch the game. I have tried several ways to make it work, including the administrators rights and clean reinstall. Nothing works. When I click "play" a sequence of "launching, synchronizing, up to date" occurs and then it goes back to green button, never opened. Is there a cure for this or should I simply ask for a refund?

That sounds like a missing .dll. Most likely DirectX.

Could you have a look at this thread: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/1129580/discussions/7/4038104984915603399/#c4038104984915878189

If you also get the same missing .dll's as error message after trying to run MD directly through the .exe, then install DirectX manually like described in the link.

Let us know if that fixes it for you!

Thank you for the help, but I could not install DX, because "a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already."

And when you tried to run the game directly from the .exe, it did point you to the two .dll's from DirectX (X3DAudio1_7.dll and XAPOFX1_5.dll)?

There is one .exe file directly in the folder where installed files are, that one is called Medieval Dynasty and absolutely no .dll files. The other .exe file is in the subfolder "binaries" within the subfolder "win64", within the subfolder "medieval dynasty" and has name Medieval_Dynasty-Win64-Shipping. There are three .dll files here: EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping, OpenImageDenoise, and tbb12. I had a similar problem with Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey and "run as administrator' worked yesterday, but today did not. That one does not have any .exe in the direct folder, no .dll either, just three text documents and within "ancestors" subfolder and "binaries" and "win64" there is that "shipping" .exe with dozens of .dll files and among them are two named as the ones you are referring to. I hope I am not too confusing?

What I meant is: start the game one time directly from the .exe: <steamfolder>\steamapps\common\Medieval Dynasty\Medieval_Dynasty.exe

and see what error message you get then. It will mostly give an error message about some missing .dll files. I'd like to know which ones.

(If you launch the game the proper way through Steam, the error message will be hidden and the game just won't launch)

Hi. Thank you Morri for still trying to help me. I got it. I tried to run the game directly from the exe. with Steam off and with Steam on. Each time, absolutely nothing happened. No message, no nothing. Like I never double-clicked on anything.

That is extremely weird. Do you have "run as administrator" off on the .exe?

I tried all options: on on just medieval fantasy.exe, off on it, on on that shipping.exe, off on it. It worked on Ancestors, but then stopped. I own about 90 games, except FC25 because of that garbage EA app and these two games, I run everything without any issues. It has never happened on my old, recently replaced computer, could be something in the system files, but what when it is not DX12? Also, my Discord app won't run, does the same crap. Thank you for the help. I hope someone has encountered anything similar. I would like to try these two games out.

Normally Windows should install those .dll's automatically. No clue why it sometimes does not, but it happened for other people as well.

The problem with not seeing an error message, is that you cannot be sure what .dll's are missing. X3DAudio1_7.dll and XAPOFX1_5.dll are the most common culprits, but it could be others as well.
Your other issues with other game/discord is most likely due to the same problem.

You could try to download them manually: https://www.sts-tutorial.com/download/x3daudio1_7 and placing them where the article says (afterwards restart your pc) to see if that fixes it.

Also what can never hurt is to run DISM and Sfc/scannow to fix any errors in your windows installation ( https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image ) The link is for windows 10, but it works on windows 11 as well.

Thank you very much, Morri. I will check it all out when I come back from work. Hopefully, something will work. I am not willing to reinstall the whole system for games I have never even tried, but these fixes seem reasonable.
